Job Description

We're looking for an accomplished video all-rounder who wants to be the best food filmmaker in the world. This job is a perfect environment for you to build on an already-impressive resumé, with access to world-class food, world-class chefs, a beautiful farm (soon to be a huge new facility) and a lot of creative freedom. If you are a solo creator who wants to make award-winning films about food, chefs, recipes, people, neighborhoods and cultures, all day every day, this might be for you.

However, it's a really tough job, because we have exacting standards and we need everything on a tight schedule. Farm. One doesn't do late nights or missed deadlines, because we have families and friends and lives. This works for folks at the top of their game who know how to work quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities:
  • Shoot, edit and publish weekly content for our website, YouTube amp; social
    • "What's in the Bag?" - our creative weekly peek inside our deliveries filmed on the farm each week
    • 25min-1h Interviews on the farm with local food characters and sustainability folks
    • Occasional behind-the-scenes on-location filming with supplier partners
    • Light audio editing of our news podcast
  • Set up and manage multi-camera livestreaming from the farm
  • Start a new series of food/recipe-focused content
  • Co-ordinate larger film projects (for example a 5-minute film about a new partnership or new farm location)
  • Manage interns who help with content production
  • Work with our management team to report on, plan and strategize video production
  • Figure out how to refine our process so that we can efficiently produce a high volume of high-quality films, within a tight budget - in five years time, we want our filmmaking side to be as respected as our food side - i.e. the best.
  • Long-term? Win us an Emmy - we're not kidding.

Requirements

Creative

  • You have experience making food look fantastic in photos and film
  • You have the highest-possible standards and attention to detail. Our customers are 3-Michelin-star chefs, and exacting foodies who consume content like Chef's Table, where expectations have been set at a very high level. Plus, we work with beautiful food, and it's our job to make it look fantastic.
  • Audio is not an afterthought. That's especially difficult when we film on a farm which makes random noises.
  • You love trying new ideas. Our brand is built around the concept of 'surprise amp; delight' so we need to continually evolve our creative content all the time. We want to combine on-location filming, interviews, games, simple recipes so you must be comfortable switching between media and taking creative approaches to make something work.
  • You are great at showing the diversity of this incredible city - The world of food is often whitewashed and misrepresents different cultures. You're determined to change that and highlight the amazing creative talents from all backgrounds that exist in this country.
  • You are organized, so that we can be creative.
    • You are able to put together a written plan, share details, co-ordinate with team members and own a project.
    • You never miss a deadline, because you plan in advance, communicate when things aren't working, and create systems so that there is no chance of error.
    • You manage time within a filming session so that our farm production can run smoothly
    • You know how to work with on-camera talent to hone a message, encourage and inspire
    • You know how to stay on-brand with graphics and exacting visual standards

Production

  • You don't need a team you have produced multiple short films/videos for YouTube where you were the single operator
  • Farm. One provides all major video equipment - you do not need to own a huge library of equipment, but you do need to know exactly what to use to get the desired result, and you can spot potential issues far ahead of time.
  • You are able to handle a project from beginning to end - planning, filming, post-production amp; audio, publishing to a platform, tagging + describing a film

We could probably list out a hundred more things but we're looking for an all-rounder who wants to be the best food filmmaker in the world.
