Job Description

The Threat Intel Consultant is a vital part of SRA’s TIGR (Threat Intelligence Gathering and Research) group. This position will support the essential mission of gathering, analyzing, disseminating, and operationalizing threat intelligence to clients and within SRA groups. The Threat Intel Consultant will assist with the collection of forensic artifacts for threat intelligence as well as assist with the review and evaluation of malware or other adversary tools. The Threat Intel Consultant will work as part of the TIGR team under the supervision of a manager.

  • Review cybersecurity news outlets, synthesize important developments, and write weekly threat intelligence summaries
  • Work with client teams to understand threat intelligence requirements and formats
  • Contribute threat intel to STIX/TAXII feeds that support operational teams
  • Provide threat intelligence summaries and verbal read outs to clients
  • Routinely monitor various data sources to uncover and understand motivations, goals, targets, capabilities amp; modus operandi (tactics, techniques, and procedures), aka tradecraft, of cyber threat actors and groups
  • Help draft and produce client deliverables
  • Actively participate in the development, documentation, and implementation of new processes to expand and mature capabilities for the organization
  • Research Internet sources and threat intelligence databases
  • Responsible for mapping out malicious internet infrastructure and identifying additional, related assets
  • Analyze activity associated with both successful and unsuccessful intrusions by advanced attackers
  • Understanding what information can and cannot be gleaned from various social media services around the world
  • Help review and oversee the weekly threat digest and ad-hoc threat bulletin’s

Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or commensurate work experience.


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • SANS GCTI


Competencies:

  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to synthesize diverse bodies of knowledge into actionable recommendations and reports for clients and internal teams
  • Thorough knowledge of cybersecurity threats and threat landscape
  • Understanding of cybersecurity vulnerabilities as well as relevant risks and impact
  • Threat intelligence-based threat modeling
  • Understanding of adversary tactics and techniques, such as MITRE ATTamp;CK
  • Knowledge of the Diamond Model for Intrusion Analysis
  • Knowledge of the Cyber Kill Chain
  • Thrive in culturally diverse research matters and be aware of cultural, social, and linguistic norms that may impact findings
  • Proven ability to work analytically while demonstrating effective leadership, project management, teamwork, and innovation
