Job Description

The Human Resource Training amp; Development Manager is responsible for oversight and guidance of Smart Financial’s training and development, performance management, learning management system, and reward and recognition programs. This role is critical to ensure Smart Financial’s brand is consistently communicated in the selection and development of every employee. This individual is responsible for leading and developing a team of business partners and trainers.

Responsible for designing, developing, and delivering new training programs and initiatives for the business as well as overseeing the activities of the training and development department. Conducts needs analysis by meeting with the business’s leadership to identify gaps and avail effective solutions that build on employee competencies within the business. This role is also responsible for the overall management of training systems, content, and support materials in the business.

Responsible for leading and developing the training team through consistent feedback, coaching, and training, while holding them accountable for their performance, behavior, and attendance.

Responsible for developing and maintaining Smart Financial’s Performance Management Process. This role is critical in ensuring all Smart Financial employee’s performance is measured according to their role in the organization and consistently across all departments. In addition, this individual will work with management to ensure a consistent process is in place, all staff has been trained, communicating expectations, and tracking progress. This includes Smart Financial's monthly one-on-one process.

Partner with the HR team to recommend and develop employee engagement programs and activities that enhance employment experience.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.


Requirements

EXPERIENCE

5-8 years of learning and development experience including developing, implementing, and delivering training. eLearning design experience and demonstrated expertise in the technical development, implementation and troubleshooting of web-based training modules. Financial Institution experience strongly preferred.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Learning Management, Instructional Design, Human Resource Development, or a related field. PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

A significant level of trust, credibility, and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating, and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

OTHER SKILLS

Strong consultative approach. Measure and evaluate impact experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Able to travel to all areas of responsibility, including out-of-town branches and departments within buildings to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.
