Job Description
Athletes Unlimited is a new model of pro sports where athletes are decision-makers and individual players are champions of team sports. We literally change the game with faster play, and a new draft and team rosters every week, delivering next-level competition and engagement in which every moment counts. With women’s softball, volleyball, and lacrosse as part of the roster, Athletes Unlimited will build the next generation of both athletes and fans.
Athletes Unlimited is seeking a website intern for the Summer of 2021 to assist with the Athletes Unlimited website, editorial content, and newsletter. This individual will work directly with the Sr. Manager of Digital during the lacrosse and softball seasons, with a position start date of June 1st and an end date in October 2021. The role is paid and part-time - applicants can expect to work three days a week.
Responsibilities
- Assist in formatting Unlimited Club email/text communications and create segments specific to each athlete’s fans
- Pitch engaging article ideas and provide first look editing for softball and lacrosse features
- Update and write profiles for new and returning athletes
- Write weekly newsletter throughout season
- Curate weekend roundups from social posts and highlights
- Format articles in Wordpress (CMS) and select imagery/social posts to accompany the pieces
- Assist in keeping the Athletes Unlimited and Unlimited Club websites up to date - this may include fan voting opportunities, results, events, homepage content and more.
- Monitor communications about website via Slack and assist if quick changes are needed
Requirements
- Must be a current student or May 2021 college graduate
- Must provide a portfolio of at least two writing samples (sports editorial preferred)
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Great organizational and research skills
- Attentive to detail
- Experience with Wordpress preferred
- Experience with writing newsletters to fit brand voice and excite fans
- Knowledge of AP Style and ability to adhere to Athletes Unlimited brand guidelines
- Collaborative and creative individual with a passion for sports
