Job Description
This individual’s primary role will be to ensure all design modifications are properly implemented from the 9 focal points by collaborating with Operations Staff, Trade Partners, and the Design team. The role is vital to the success of the United Project delivery method as one of the ways to achieve the main value proposition is to develop and establish a fully coordinated and constructible set of documents prior to project mobilization. This individual shall strive for timely effective communication between all team members and to ensure the effective transfer of information, with emphasis on deliberate consistent execution of the focal point checklists. The UPDM shall be accountable to ensure that design modifications meet the Project Vision(PV) and Project Success Criteria(PSC); participate in adjustments to the PV and PSC with Director of United Project and periodically adjust the alignment. This individual shall have in depth knowledge of Subject Matter related to DA and DB scopes in order to effectively manage DA and DB trades. The nine focal points are defined as follows: value analysis, design coordination and conflict resolution, constructability, means and methods, project logistics and schedule, lessons learned, peer reviews, AHU/Utility integration, and design modifications are made at each milestones.
A clear understand of the design build process and expectations is imperative as this individual shall solicit, assist in hiring, and ultimately manage all design assist and design build trade partner.
This position reports to Director of United Project.High Level Key Responsibilities
- BD Marketing and Sales
- Design Assist/Design Build Trade Partner Management
- Non Design Assist/Design Build Trade Partner Management
o Support and participate in the Company’s Business Development, Marketing and Sales Program.
o Build and manage long term relationships and develop external advocacy for United Project.
o Participate in Project Pursuit Approaches.
o Contribute project specific content to RFPs.
o Participate in the project interview process.
- Design Coordination
- Design Coordination/conflict resolution are incorporated per the process flow intervals and communicated to all team members for consideration and pricing.
- Constructability reviews and subsequent modifications are incorporated pee the process flow intervals and communicated to all team members for consideration and pricing.
o Foster effective communication between all design team members, MPC, and MPC trade partners.
o Thorough and complete understanding of the PV and PSC such to provide constructive input and guidance to the OAC team members.
o Ensure all OAC team members are held accountable for timely input into the design.
o Ensure all focal point check lists or P and Ps are properly prepared at each design stage kick off meetings and analyzed with status reports generated at the completion on each design milestone.
o Ensure documents are coordinated and input is timely updated in documents according to the process flow milestones.
o Provide inputs of DA and DB trade involvement and assist in developing the design and planning schedule to ensure milestone dates are successfully met.
o Ensure document and plan coordinating includes:
VE and System analysis decisions are incorporated into design documents and specifications and communicated to the team.
Means and methods items have been incorporated into the GMP or IGMP set of plans and communicated to the appropriate parties.
Logistic and schedule, items have been incorporated into the GMP or IGMP set of plans and communicated to the appropriate parties.
Lessons learned are incorporated into drawings at regularly and agreed upon intervals.
Peer review comments that are agreed to by ownership are included in the design documents and scope is properly articulated to the preconstruction manager and disseminated to DA/DB subs.
Comments and subsequent revisions by AHJ and Utility companies are included in the design documents and scope is properly articulated to the preconstruction manage and disseminated to DA/DB subs.
- Ensure a thorough understanding of the United Project process flows, process and procedures and tools.
o Engage DA/DB trade partners in:
System Analysis and Value Engineering.
Design evaluation and coordination.
Collaboration between design team and or other DA/DB trade partners.
Documentation submittals and information transfer.
RFI’s
Coordination with AHJ’s and utility companies.
Providing their design documents and or specifications.
Sub Vendor participation.
o Engage non DA/DB trade partners i
