POSITION: VP, Engineering

REPORTING: Reports to the CEO; close collaboration with CAIO and Head of Product
Position Overview
Trusty is transforming the way retirees get access to the right health insurance. Our digital platform is sold to insurance brokers and it helps them quickly identify the right insurance for their customers. Be part of a team that believes that no American should go through bankruptcy because of out of pocket healthcare costs.
We are looking for a VP of Engineering to lead the engineering team, but still be excited about getting into code. Our ideal candidate has worked in a startup environment from early stage through to growth stage. We are looking for someone who is a full-stack engineer and software architect with database and systems design and data management experience.

Necessary Attributes:
**Coaching**
We need a VP of Engineering that is comfortable coaching a junior development team the skills to help them grow.
This may include implementing code quality measures, leading code reviews, and writing code to lead by example.
**Organized**
The VP of Engineering should coordinate timelines and priorities with the Head of Product, and these should be aligned with the objectives and priorities of both the department and the company.
**Teachable**
We want an atmosphere where people are eager to share what went wrong and how we can do better.
**Solution Provider**
Conceptually able to visualize the design and come up with solutions and technical design for Business and Product Use cases for implementation by the engineering team.

Requirements
High Level Tech Stack
Python (Flask, Gunicorn), React and ReactNative, MySQL, AWS Lambda, Docker, and Kubernetes
Additionally, the following skills are fundamental for all members of our team:
Technical Skills : Experience in building enterprise and customer-facing infrastructures on AWS using Kubernetes.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are a must for all members of the Trusty.care team.
People Skills: The VP, Engineering, will demonstrate strong communication and people skills, communicating engineering capabilities, understanding and interpreting customer needs, while adhering to Trusty’s corporate vision.
Integrity and Vision: The VP, Engineering is a person of high integrity, who is consistent in their work, respects people’s strengths, and what they bring to the table. The VP, Engineering should be calm under pressure in order to effectively execute engineering needs, even in times of rapid growth, uncertainty, and change of direction.
