Job Description

Planned Parenthood of New York City is seeking an Adult Sexuality Educatorto join our Education and Training Team. This position is based out of NYC and is eligible for a hybrid remote work arrangement.
The Adult Sexuality Educator is responsible for facilitating workshops and conducting outreach for parents in various communities throughout NYC on building better communication skills to talk with their children about sexuality. The goal of the Adult Role Models (ARM) Program is to help parents speak more comfortably and effectively with and to build stronger relationships with their children. Adult Sexuality Educators for the program have experience as primary caregivers and caring adults trained by Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) about sexuality, outreach strategies and facilitation skills. In this role, educators also participate in additional agency activities that promote parent-child communication, parent-child connectedness and parental monitoring.

  • Community Outreach and Facilitation (70%)
  • Facilitate educational workshops and community outreach for parents and caregivers to better communicate with their children about sexuality. In all activities, ensure adherence to PGNY’s mission, values, guiding principles, maintain curriculum fidelity for implementation.
  • Conduct community outreach that includes, but is not limited to community events, Ask an ARM, tabling, fairs, school events, etc.
  • Maintain community relationships by representing PPGNY to community partners with professionalism and connect partners to additional programs as applicable.
  • Attend and/or present at community coalition meetings and events when required.
  • Successful completion of training provided by PPGNY on various sexual health issues, facilitation skills, and community organizing.
  • Support Program Coordinator with internal trainings for new ARMS staff or on the ARMs curriculum
  • Collaborate with other Education amp; Training and Community Engagement staff on outreach events, community meetings, and workshops, as scheduled.

  • Program Administration (20%)
  • Assist the Program Coordinator to identify new partners, group education planning and scheduling workshops
  • Collect demographic, monitoring and evaluation data from workshop and training participants; compile data appropriately and prepares submission.
  • Support Program Coordinator in administrative tasks, i.e. Reviewing data, preparing materials for workshops/outreach events, filing, confirming workshops and setting up and breaking down community events.
  • Partners effectively with volunteers, trainees, and other agency personnel

  • Special Projects (5%)
  • Provides training for the Training Institute as needed and applicable.
  • Assists and collaborates with team to execute any cross-program opportunities or overarching youth program initiatives.
  • Works as a member of the Education and Training Department staff and maintains high standards of professionalism and collaboration. Represents the Department at selected internal and external meetings.

  • Other (5%)
  • Provides training for the Training Institute as needed and applicable.
  • Attending meetings and professional development training sessions as requested by supervisor.
  • Stays current on research related to sexuality and reproductive health. Helps to identify articles to be read by other Education and Training staff.
  • Performs other educational and experience related duties or projects as outlined by the Education Department’s annual Work Plan or as outlined in grant applications.
  • Performs other educational and experience related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience working with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
  • A demonstrated commitment to PPGNY’s mission related to bodily autonomy, health equity, and gender and racia
