About Training Grounds (TG):
Built on four core pillars of learning, passion, excellence, and trust, Training Grounds is Cloud9’s youth development initiative that brings together teens ages 13-17 for a unique online sports experience.
Training Grounds participants hone their skills as players while they grow as individuals through real-life skills applications. TG’s teaching philosophy is built off industry-leading techniques and tools utilized in Cloud9’s current professional esports team environment and from best practices of other youth sports camps. Campers participate in competitive play experience and receive world-class coaching within a safely-moderated, fun, and educational community.
What We’re Looking For:
Cloud9 is looking for an enthusiastic leader to serve as Head of Coaching for our Training Grounds Camps. As Head of Coaching, you will be responsible for hiring, training, and managing coaches. You will work with the Camp Director, Counselors, and Marketing Leads to recruit and hire new coaches in addition to executing the Training Grounds Coach Certification program. You will also serve as the go-to person for day-to-day coach operations, which includes managing the execution of coach activities, providing input for coach performance reviews, and working with coaches on incident resolution. The Head of Coaching is expected to exhibit high moral and ethical behavior and good sportsmanship in order to serve as a exemplary role model for Training Grounds Coaches and Campers.
What You’ll Do:
- Drive the Training Grounds Coach recruiting and hiring process, which includes overseeing interviewers and administrative staff that help to execute the process.
- Execute the Training Grounds Coach Certification program for new coaches on a regular basis.
- Oversee, lead, and manage day-to-day Training Grounds Coach activities (e.g., staff meetings, coach assignments, curriculum development).
- Foster a fun, safe and exciting camp experience for the Coaches and Campers.
- Collaborate with the Camp Director on coach performance reviews.
- Address issues that may arise, including, but not limited to, camper behavior issues, coach conduct, and parent complaints.
- Enforce Training Grounds rules and expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree; Degree in Education, Recreation, or other applicable field preferred.
- 2+ years experience managing large teams (ideally with 70+ people)
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Strong interest in working with and developing others.
- Passion for esports/video games and/or has worked in the esports/video game industry previously
- Ability to pass criminality, drug, and social media background checks
