Job Description

We are looking for a Junior IO Analyst with basic analytics and statistics experience to join our Analytics team. This position plays an essential role in ensuring pymetrics consistently delivers fair, effective, and compliant products to our global client base. You would be responsible for conducting analyses that support our compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines. Your work would include conducting analytics studies for business impact and algorithmic fairness, as well as exploratory investigations on the impact of new products and tools.

You will play a key role in a broad and cross-functional effort focused on telling compelling client stories with data. Your day to day will include collaborating with internal experts from various teams including Industrial Organizational (IO) Psychology, Data Science, and Professional services to develop analyses and reports using existing tools. You’ll work with IO psychologists and client success managers to understand client data and perform rigorous analyses and data queries. You’ll prepare presentation-ready data visualizations, slide decks, and reports using open source python and R packages, supported by in-house software development. Along with your teammates, you’ll learn the design and uses of pymetrics’ products and execute analyses aligned with the best analytic strategies for demonstrating pymetrics’ value given various client use cases.

In your primary role as an in-house resource for data analysis and statistical programming you will at first leverage existing analytics code to generate reliable and well-documented analyses in support of both validity and fairness analyses, and will expand over time to improve and guide our roadmap for supporting the entire pymetrics assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data analysis and generate presentations using python (and some R)
  • Explore and analyze external client employment amp; human resources data
  • Leverage outside research to help evaluate the fairness and validity of pymetrics’ products from individual client studies
  • Collaborate with data scientists and professional services to access and manipulate data, explain data gathering requirements, and visualize results
  • Publish data visualizations and present analytic results to technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Demonstrate exceptional judgement and discretion when dealing with highly sensitive data
  • Contribute to research projects related to analytic best practices for testing adverse impact and predictive validity consistent with legal regulations and precedents
  • Communicate with other members of a diverse data science team (from backgrounds including machine learning, economics, behavioral science and linguistics) on best practices in data analytics

Requirements

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or 1 year of experience in relevant field (Psychology, Data Science, or applied science grounded in research methods and statistics)
  • 1+ year experience authoring slide decks and written reports
  • Basic to proficient coding ability in Python for use in statistical analyses as reflected by completion of project-based coursework or work experience.
  • Familiarity with basic statistical concepts and methods (e.g. chi-square, ANOVA)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Basic exposure to querying databases using SQL with structured data
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with equal employment law and analyses used to determine compliance or interest in quickly learning
  • Experience in Industrial / Organizational Psychology or behavioral science research.
  • Previous exposure to ATS and HRIS systems
  • Experience with Git version-control
  • Interest in issues of diversity, transparency and fairness in AI and public policy
