Job Description

Involved in more than 15 SARS-CoV2 vaccine developments in partnership with multinational pharmaceutical companies, innovative biotechnology companies and prestigious NGOs such as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation or CEPI, we also proudly serve the needs of our clients in fields such as flu (universal and seasonal), meningitis, respiratory syncytial virus, chikungunya, malaria, or HPV and are growing an immune-oncology franchise.

Nexelis is a CAP accredited and CLIA certified laboratory. Nexelis also provides GLP-compliant biomarker laboratory services.

This is an evening shift role (3:30-midnight, Monday-Friday)

Role

The Laboratory Technical Supervisor responsible for day-to-day lab technical operations. In this role you will oversee and manage the training and performance of bench scientific positions, and implement, review, and adjust technical and procedural changes to reach productivity and quality goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning and monitoring of analytical testing for all studies in collaboration with other managerial staff members.
  • Work with bench analyst to enhance workflow procedures and techniques, as well as knowledge of test principles.
  • Investigate abnormal results or batches that are out of acceptable range.
  • Investigate, review and work with scientific team to resolve issues and failures from assays/protocols.
  • Work with Project Management and Specimen Management to ensure timely scheduling of test setup, sample testing and finalization of the results.
  • Assist and direct bench staff in recognizing and documenting deviations.
  • Assist in the development and/or implementation of new tests or instrumentation following accepted laboratory procedures.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory managers and QA department staff in developing and implementing quality assurance monitors for the technical laboratory.
  • Monitor laboratory compliance with all applicable standard procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and approach to the duties and challenges met by the laboratory while focusing on continuous laboratory, company, and personal growth.

Requirements

  • The position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in a clinical science or other relevant scientific discipline and a minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible clinical laboratory experience, 2 of those in a management capacity.
  • Proficiency using office productivity applications such as spreadsheets and presentation graphics.
  • Sufficient language and writing skill to read, and understand professional literature, research, and scientific instructions.
  • Strong math skills to conduct tests and analyze statistical data.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts and consult with a range of internal contacts for purposes of testing, conversion of data, and problem solving.
