As the Product Development Manager - Food you will be accountable for leading the food category for Public Goods. This includes developing, launching, and bringing new products to market; developing strategic growth plans for the food product categories; and maintaining sustainability brand standards across product, packaging and positioning to support overall customer engagement. This is a highly cross-functional role where you will be working closely with key functions including operations, quality assurance, marketing, creative, sales and finance to bring products from ideation to market.

What You’ll Do:

  • Responsible for product development and ‘go-to-market’ management for all food product categories including new product categories and existing category line extensions.
  • Oversee the end-to-end cross-functional product development process ensuring alignment across all departing including operations, finance, quality assurance, marketing, creative, sales and finance.
  • Utilizing internal and external data resources determine product assortment strategy plan and identify potential new categories, products and line extensions.
  • Identify and onboard qualified co-manufacturing partners for new products and alternative sources of supply for existing products. Establish and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Responsible for vendor negotiations including costing, terms and timelines.
  • Create new ‘go to market concept decks’ for each product - what, why, market overview, sourcing information, sustainability, pricing SRP analysis to gain senior leadership buy-in and cross-functional team alignment.
  • Partner with sales, marketing and customer service to conduct market and consumer research for on-going product market fit and recommend changes to ensure brand alignment.
  • Coordinate with marketing and creative partners on label development for new products and packaging updates.

Who you are:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the food product
  • Development and/or sourcing in the food industry
  • Existing relationships with food co-manufacturers
  • Knowledgeable about grocery supply chains, private label, and manufacturing
  • Good pulse on the market, able to translate brand strategy and market trends into product
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex projects at the same time
  • Hyper organized, detail-oriented, and independent
  • Collaborative and comfortable in a hectic team-oriented startup environment
  • Strong communicator and negotiator
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers a plus
  • Experience with sustainable packaging and or ethical labor practices a plus
