The HALO Trust (USA) Government Affairs Officer is a position that supports the HALO’s government affairs team with their interaction with the US Governmentprimarily the State Department. Our office is based in Washington, DC, but the position can be location-agnostic within the U.S.
The HALO Trust employs over 8,500 people in 25 countries to create safe and secure environments in war torn communities by clearing landmines, managing stockpiles of weapons, and destroying unexploded ordnance.
Overview
HALO manages about 30 concurrent grants and cooperative agreements with the US government. The Government Affairs Officer will be involved in liaising between the US and our international programs, helping craft proposals, monitoring work progress, and ensuring that all HALO programs comply with various US laws and regulations. Additionally, there will be opportunities to research and explore new relationships with other US government grant writing offices.
This role reports to the HALO Trust USA Head of Government Affairs and works within a larger government affairs and HALO team. The role requires attention to detail, organization, critical thinking, and a willingness to enforce standards and best practices. The Government Affairs Officer will be exposed to the granular details of US grant management and will gain experience working within a large, international team.
