Job Description

World Central Kitchen, Inc. (WCK) is looking for a talented individual to produce, coordinate and edit storytelling and media projects for our Resilience Programs which address clean cooking, food security, and culinary sector workforce skills development in the United States, Caribbean, and Central America. This fully bi-lingual Spanish and English Associate will be a member of WCK’s Communications team but will report to the Chief Program Officer for project assignments and work flow prioritization. This position is intended to be based in Washington DC, but a remote location, especially in a location of Resilience programming, may be considered for an exceptional candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write, edit and produce narrative content for the website, program booklets, training manuals, blog posts, social media, press, LinkedIn, etc.
  • In partnership with WCK’s designer, conceptualize and coordinate the production of visual content such as infographics, decks, or flyers to illustrate and support the narrative content produced.
  • Maintain and update the Resilience area of the WCK website and other online resources for both internal and external audiences.
  • Manage, sort, and catalog a growing collection of visual media, including still and video assets, for the Resilience team.
  • In partnership with the Resilience Programs Directors, provide support to key stakeholders including partners, donors, and media outlets by having a thorough understanding of Resilience and other WCK program efforts.
  • Manage public relations efforts including outreach to media and press outlets, coordinating interviews, the production of press releases, and managing relationships with media and PR agencies in different program countries.
  • Assist Resilience team leadership with the scheduling, coordination, and content preparation for interviews and conference presentations.
  • Be responsible for the overall look and feel of WCK learning portal platform and, in partnership with WCK’s video production team as needed, coordinate and oversee the production of training and promotional videos for Resilience and other units of the organization.
  • Assist other members of the Communications team with general WCK media and storytelling tasks as needed.

Requirements

Communications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the communications field.
  • Excellent writer and editor. Candidates should be ready to submit original material in both English and Spanish as well as complete one or more writing assignments as part of the interview process.
  • Strong project management skills that can be exhibited through work experience and/or accomplishments. Formal training or certification is a strong plus.
  • Experience in the production and coordination of media projects that include in addition to written material most if not all of the following components: video production, graphic design, and photography. Candidates should be ready to submit links or digital files of such projects.

Languages

  • Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish required. Candidates should be prepared to have interviews in both languages.
  • Proficiency in French, Creole and other languages highly favored.

Other

  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Social Sciences, Humanities, or related fields.
  • Solid computer skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud apps, HTML, Lightroom, etc.
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainable food systems and/or international development.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to self-manage, work independently, and stick to deadlines.
  • People-person who is comfortable connecting with colleagues in both remote and in-person working environments.
  • Passion for the mission of World Central Kitchen.
