Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for a learning tools specialist to join our passionate and driven Curriculum Team. The learning tools specialist will work closely with the team to research, conceptualize, build, and support rich, interactive learning experiences using a variety of learning systems and technologies.
This is a strategic and hands-on role. You will drive our learning tools strategy as we adopt cutting-edge technologies, and you will build rich interactive experiences.
The right candidate will have a strong portfolio and experience in one or more of the following:
- Python and Jupyter Notebooks
- Articulate Storyline
- H5P
- JavaScript
More important than any specific tool experience, however, is the ability to learn new technologies as they emerge, especially in the areas of AI, gamification, and augmented reality.
At Esme we look to push the envelope of what online learning can be. We believe in fostering great ideas, trying them out, and then using data to inform success. In this role you will be a key part of creating truly unique learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Lead technology projects across the organization, from research to implementation and support.
- Evaluate and identify learning tools (simulations, games, augmented reality experiences, AI applications, etc.) to enhance courses.
- Collaborate with the Curriculum Team to create interactive learning experiences.
- Develop and maintain standards for vetting new learning tools.
- Manage the implementation of tools, media, and content into the learning management system.
- Manage the development of content needed for learning tool projects.
- Serve as the internal point of contact for a portfolio of learning tools.
- Evaluate new instructional software and hardware.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, Master’s in educational technology preferred.
- 5+ years of experience working with educational technology.
- Ability to research, critically think about and analyze complex technical and business issues.
- Ability to conceptualize and imagine how new technologies can be applied to education.
- Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by adult learners.
- Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Passion for excellence and adaptability.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and deal with ambiguity.
- Strong project management skills.

Competencies
- A passion for emerging educational technologies.
- Leading the creative process of defining how the team leverages new technologies to benefit learners.
- Working understanding of LTI, SCORM, APIs, and HTML5.
- Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).
- Knowledge of Python and JavaScript is a plus.
- Familiarity with curriculum development processes.
