Help Harris County Texas recover from Winter Storm Uri!

East Harris County Empowerment Council (EHCEC) exists to improve the quality of life through innovative, sustainable programs and services that empower men, women, and youth to achieve their full potential. EHCEC recently launched a Resilience and Recovery Program to assist individuals in need of home repairs due to Winter Storm Uri.

In partnership with SBP, EHCEC seeks to hire an AmeriCorps member to serve full-time for 10 months as a Supply, Logistics, and Construction Coordinator to support its recovery repair program.

The Supply, Logistics, and Construction Coordinator will coordinate the operations of EHCEC's warehouse and delivery system to ensure project sites have the tools and materials they need, and coordinate subcontractor schedules, monitoring the progress of construction projects and assisting when needed. Essential Functions of Position:

  • Deliver orders (tools and materials) to construction sites via company vehicle.
    • Must be able to satisfy a Motor Vehicle Records/Driver History Check
  • Assist with keeping a clean, safe and organized warehouse.
  • Prepare orders made by Project Managers by pulling tools and materials from the EHCEC warehouse, or by picking them up from a local vendor.
  • Assist with tracking and cleaning tools.
  • Develop and track daily and weekly goals.
  • Assist with permits by dropping off permit applications.
  • Schedule inspections with the building department and funders as needed for each construction projects.
  • Identify potential new subcontractors and maintain sub-contractor database and folders with proper documentation.
  • Coordinate and schedule times for subcontractors to complete work on clients’ homes.
  • Attend walk-throughs with Project Managers and subcontractors, and receive bids from subcontractors
  • Order and process utilities and special orders for sites; i.e. dumpsters, drywall, etc.
  • Ensure all electronic construction files, gantt charts, excel tracking documents, and white boards are up to date with accurate information
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work site.
  • Ensure that work is of the highest quality.
  • Interact effectively and positively with other team members.
  • Learn, understand and perform EHCEC’s expectations for job site and personal safety as outlined in the Construction Manual and Safety While Serving at EHCEC, as well as safety trainings occurring throughout the term
  • Participate in September 11th Day of Remembrance and Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service events, which may take place on a weekend or during holidays and include activities outside of the scope of typical day-to-day functions.
    • Per 45 CFR 2510.20, SBP has determined that the probability of access to vulnerable populations is so great that all members will receive the three-part NSCHC: NSOPR, FBI, and required state components (residence and state of service, as necessary).
    • Per 45 CFR 2540.100, member activities are not supplementing, duplicating, or displacing staff or volunteers.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Satisfy a Motor Vehicle/Driver History Check showing:
    • Class C driver’s license in good standing
    • Must be 21 years or older
    • 21 and 22-year olds must have clean driving record
    • For candidates 23 and older, the following applies:
      • No more than two moving violations in last 3 years
      • No DWI/DUI in last 5 years
      • No major violations in the last 5 years
  • Have a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States
  • Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria pursuant to 45 CFR 2540.202.
