The Algorithm Developer must be proficient coding in one or more high-level languages (C/C++ and/or Python) for building models of complex cyber physical systems which shall include optimization and/or search algorithm implementations. These algorithms will be prototyped with simulations and test data and refined with multi-source input data. Responsibilities of the position include data conditioning and analysis and construction of models leveraging optimization and search algorithms using this data. The Algorithm Developer should be comfortable with the use of data processing pipelines and diagnosis of errors and shortfalls in the algorithms used in such pipelines. Designing and implementing changes to algorithms used in these pipelines and their associated models is also important to this work. The Algorithm Developer will be responsible for developing and testing models and software, as well as providing supporting analysis and performance evaluations relative to metrics.
Duties will include:
- Working as part of a small, focused team to architect, develop, implement, and test applications featuring modular software design principles
- Implementing and modifying algorithms in Python and/or C/C++ and integrating them into software processing chains, including development of unit-level and system-level tests and verification
- Collaborating with software engineers to implement mathematical software and perform associated data analysis for verification
- Assisting with experiment design, performance modeling and simulation runs, and associated test verification and performance analysis using standard analysis tools (e.g., data processing in Python or MATLAB)
- Participating in laboratory and field tests to collect and analyze real-world data for model verification and validation
- Transitioning algorithms to real-time systems or prototype demonstrators
- Communicating technical foundations of models and algorithms through reports and presentations
Requirements
- Ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance
- BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
- Strong grasp of optimization techniques (e.g., linear and integer programming, particle filters)
- Familiarity with graph/tree search algorithms (e.g., A*, branch and bound, heuristic incremental search)
- Familiarity with Deep Learning
- Experience with data analysis
- Experience with algorithm formulation and modification
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Active Security Clearance at the TS level
- Familiarity with machine learning tools (e.g., PyTorch, Tensorflow, scikit-learn)
- Experience with partially-observable planning (e.g., POMDP, DESPOT)
- Experience with Deep Reinforcement Learning
- Experience with generative models or Bayes Networks
- Experience with model construction for simulations
- Experience with cybersecurity analysis and risk factors
