Job Description

Our Network Engineering team designs networks that enable students and administrators across the US to learn and teach. Our scale means we get to work on current technologies like Wi-Fi 6, automation, and security; we get access to vendor-provided training in addition to being part of a positive culture.

Apogee is looking for an experienced senior-level network engineer to help lead network engineering projects and participate in product development. This is an excellent opportunity to be a network engineer inside a network engineering company.

A Network Architect at Apogee is our most senior-level network engineer. You have the opportunity to help shape product strategy and mentor our in-house team of engineers and specialists.

Apogee is headquartered in Austin, TX, and employees may work at home or in the office. We are also open to hiring remotely for this position.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Build client networks by considering bandwidth requirements, infrastructure and security, server design, and configurations.
  • Evaluate the effects of new equipment and upgrades have on system reliability and performance.
  • Investigate and generate recommendations on key third-party components, such as network and security products.
  • Design and deploy networks using static and dynamic routing protocol (IP, RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP).
  • Lead Apogee's more complicated or one-off project designs independently or serve as engineering lead on projects.
  • Create and maintain documentation of the network (network drawings, text descriptions, and equipment configurations).
  • Partner with Sales and Sales Engineering for occasional client-facing presentations.
  • Communicate with Project Management regarding timelines and resources needed to complete projects in the queue.
  • Collaborate, develop and implement new processes and continually improve communication and quality of delivered solutions and services.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of network engineering background
  • 3+ years in a Senior Network Engineer role or higher
  • 5+ years of experience Cisco network experience
  • Advanced knowledge of standard networking solutions, e.g., BGP, eigrp, ospf, spanning-tree, LACP, mLACP, IPv4 Subnetting, VRFs, Private Vlans, CBAC, spine-and-leaf
  • Ability to configure, monitor, and maintain IPSEC VPNs, security policies, and other solutions with Cisco ASAs.
  • Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or any public cloud)
  • Advanced knowledge of load balancing, redundancy, and DR solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of packet sniffing tools and analyzing packet captures
  • Advanced experiencing managing system endpoint protection solutions
  • Experience configuring, deploying, or managing cloud solutions


Education and Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Cisco Certified CCNP, CCSP
  • CISSP or CCIE highly desired
