Position Title: Junior Buyer Reporting To: VP of Purchasing amp; Product Development
Description Of Position:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and hardworking Junior Buyer. This person will work closely with the Buying staff in building relationships with suppliers, research new item opportunities, working with the sales team and other daily duties and responsibilities. They will effectively and proactively communicate between all departments within Red River Foods associated with daily buying tasks.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Build a strong buying understanding of the RRF company values, goals and mission to be carried into the buying process.
- Help to build and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers, with clear and proactive communication
- Review current inventory positions to maintain a balance of supply for sales, based on market conditions
- Work closely with the Sales and QA teams when there are specific customer requirements
- Place contracts with suppliers, making sure all details are correctly outlined in the system
- Communicating item specification to the suppliers, making sure they clearly understand and will follow the RRF TDS amp; Labeling requirements.
- Work with QA in supplier questions, approvals, documentation, CAR reports and other items that come up.
- Daily communication with Sales team in bids, inquires, customer requests, inventory releases, item issues
- Work with the traffic team on transportation, documentation, approvals and timing.
- Review documentation pertaining to shipping, legal, quality, labels, specifications, audits
- Work with accounting to ensure supplier invoices are accurate and approved on time. That payment is made to suppliers when needed.
- Identify new and unique items in order to expand the current RRF portfolio
- Coordinate with other buyers on projections, items and coverage as needed.
- Daily review of inventory position, to cover open sales and future sales
- Constant communication with suppliers on market updates, conditions and future
- Detailed supplier information for future communication to sales team, quality team and other buyers.
- Assist with other departments as needed
Requirements
Required Skills, Abilities and Certifications:
- Associates degree or applicable experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Office 365 - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to interact with all levels within and outside of the company
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, anticipate needs and develop appropriate action plans
