Samsung SDSA is looking for a Storage Engineer in Austin, TX to support NFS, iSCSI, and object storage in a large scale engineering (EDA) environment in Austin, TX, San Jose, CA and Korea. This is junior level position with responsibility for all functions that Data Services provides from level 1 to level 2 support.
You will be working in Samsung Austin Ramp;D Center that is organized into teams responsible for delivering services to our chip, software, and lab teams. Each group is responsible for the care of services in the portfolio and shares the work as necessary with the IT group. Our internal engineering teams have extensive experience and a broad background in the development of advanced GPU designs, software, and System IP for various market segments. The technical environment is comprised of large scale Linux compute, data storage and multiple secure DMZ enclaves.

Responsibilities:
- Perform Level 1 and Level 2 support functions
- Triage all data storage tickets and resolve or escalate as appropriate
- Support CommVault on Linux and Windows
- Provision new storage
- Upgrade software or firmware
- Document capacity and performance trends and load balance as required
- Develop automation tools to support data management activities using web and/or CLI tools.
- Create/update inventory items in a MySQL database populating the data from multiple sources
- Query storage platforms using published APIs in Python and update databases
- Link to multiple databases to compare forecast to actual data
- Develop a self-service platform to manage storage volumes, quotas, etc. for end users
- Automated storage array provisioning
- Generate alerts from log entries
- Develop hooks into Atlassian Jira, PagerDuty, and other external systems as required
- Implement and maintain vendor-supplied monitoring tools to support storage platforms
- Develop new monitoring frameworks using open source, commercial, or internally-developed tools
- Create and update technical documentation
- Take direction from staff storage engineers
Requirements
Requirements/Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ of IT experience
- Familiarity with basic storage and network protocols
- Proficiency with Linux at the user/developer level
- Solid knowledge and coding in Python
- Willingness to provide on-call support 24x7 approximately 2-3 weeks per year
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Nice to Have:
- A minimum of 1 year working in a team supporting NetApp or other enterprise storage arrays
- Basic proficiency with revision control systems (e.g. git)
- Basic proficiency with ansible playbooks
- Knowledge of enterprise monitoring tools
- Working knowledge of bug or trouble ticketing systems
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
