Terran Orbital is currently seeking a talented and growth-minded Network and Security Engineer to join its IT team. This position will be responsible for the smooth implementation and operations of its cloud infrastructure and network systems, as well as to support the day-to-day IT operations of the business within requirements, specifications, budgets, and timelines.

You will work collaboratively with the Information Security Analyst on the implementation and maintenance of our company’s new IT network architecture and other supporting systems. The ideal candidate will have prior experience and a proven track record of successfully designing, operating, setting up, and monitoring the Local Area Network (LAN) as well as performing upgrades and enhancements as directed by the Director of IT. The Network and Security Engineer will also implement, enhance, and monitor security measures to protect the company’s network, and have detailed knowledge of industry’s best practice processes within an NIST 800-171 compliant environment.

This position will report to the Director of IT and is an incredible opportunity to help lead and support the outcome of a major commercial space capability and lead the implementation of an IT department in a great company.

Requirements

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the success of a fast-growing, multidisciplinary team who devise remote sensing satellite missions and capabilities responsive to customer needs
  • Possess the ability to work collaboratively with a team of engineers, scientists, and leadership to capture key strategic and tactical concepts, specifications, and use cases to utilize best practices in implementing its secure network infrastructure, creating IT policies, processes, and related documentation as required
  • Implement information technology operations (e.g. network security, access, systems backup, support, etc.), implement quality assurance and testing programs, evaluate them according to established goals, and recommend/implement upgrades as required
  • Assess all departmental requirements, devise recommendations to ensure optimal system operations and provide necessary tools to support the goals and objectives as set by senior leadership and the senior engineering team
  • Support efficiency through prudent purchasing recommendations of cost-effective equipment, operational use of both hardware and software, and ongoing support
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and provide visibility to senior leadership in its development of strategic priorities
  • Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts as needed
  • Proven working experience as a Network and Security Engineer or relevant experience
  • Excellent knowledge of information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
  • Expertise in data center management and data governance within an NIST 800-171 compliant environment, as well as FortiGate and Juniper.
  • Network security and design experience
  • Strange knowledge and hand on experience on FortiGate firewall and Juniper switches.
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation and/or migration

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • 5+ years experience
  • Juniper (Junos) amp; FortiGate (FortiOS) required
  • SSL / IPsec VPN experience
  • BGP and IGP knowledge required
  • Network design experience
  • BS in Computer Science, MIS or similar field
  • Ability to self-govern with minimum supervision, establish workload priorities, and to utilize efficient time management practices to achieve assigned tasks
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
