Job Description

Join us for Harvest and gain valuable hands-on experience from one of California’s premier sparkling wineries.
Assist the Winemaking team in performing and coordinating grape arrival, juice processing to fermentation stages for the harvest season.

Please note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only able to consider U.S. National candidates at this time.


Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain an Excel spreadsheet documenting grape receiving, juice movements and additions
  • Cellar work order Data entry in our Winemaking software for grape and juice receiving and all cellar movement from juice pressing to fermentations.
  • Selection of tanks for juice settling and racking of juice into selected tanks for primary fermentation with all necessary additions.
  • Record and Monitor fermentation process. Temperature and Brix every day.
  • Troubleshoot cooling system and cascade issues to Cellar Supervisor or Winemaking team and maintenance team in case of any problem
  • Coordinate daily winemaking tasting and trials.
  • Coordinate with laboratory and cellar regarding work orders, samples and analysis.
  • Cellar and lab support as needed

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science and / or Enology preferred or 4 to 6 years equivalent experience required,

Preferences

  • Minimum 1-year winery cellar experience.
  • Knowledge or ability to learn safe cellar practices, including safe handling of chemicals
  • Knowledge of winery cellar operating procedures
  • Ability to be trained in confined space entry process and procedures
  • Computer skills including Word processing, Data base and spreadsheet.
  • Previous experience in sparkling wine operations preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of cellar operations and specific activities of cellar functions
