Job Description

About LifeWeb 360

LifeWeb 360’s purpose is to awaken our empathetic world.

We help people through one of the hardest times of their life - when a loved one is at the end of their life or has died. LifeWeb is a digital space where communities can share memories of a loved one and celebrate their life. Friends and family can share stories, photos, and videos that are organized to create context and meaning, and don't remind you that your person died, they remind you how they lived.

Each of us touches so many people during our life; LifeWeb harnesses the outpouring of love that happens when someone passes to capture their essence in an authentic way, honor them, and give comfort to their family that they were seen in this world. See an example LifeWeb here (lifeweb360.com).

We are a remote-first, women-led company and have been growing as communities are unable to come together physically to mourn a loved one. We’ve been getting press for the work we’re doing, including in Chicago Inno, the New York Times, USA Today, HuffPost, SF Chronicle, and US News amp; World Report, and received a $50k investment from Google for Startups to round out our friends and family round. And, we were featured on Chicago Inno’s list of 21 startups to watch in 2021.

Role overview

LifeWeb 360 is looking for a self-starting intern to partner closely with our Community Experience Lead, our hands-on Marketing Advisor, and our CEO. You will have the opportunity to own critical initiatives that will drive growth of our LifeWeb community, and learn from seasoned marketing professionals in the process.

Join us in our mission to awaken our empathetic world!

What you’ll do
  • Establish content marketing as a function within the company, creating defined processes that will lay the foundation for LifeWeb 360 long after your internship ends - we have no busy work, everything you do has a material impact on the company!
  • Create content campaigns for our blog, newsletter, and social media using SEO and other marketing best practices
  • Support PR initiatives including article writing, building media lists amp; pitching reporters, and creating press releases
  • Create and execute on promotion amp; distribution strategies for content campaigns to increase their reach and effectiveness
  • Work with our Community Experience Lead to create and execute on a strategy for community engagement, such as webinars and other approaches
  • Establish automated processes to increase efficiency using tools and techniques like AirTable, Zapier, and mail merges
  • Collaborate with the entire 8-person team throughout the summer

This role is unpaid, however based on your school’s requirements may count for course credit. We can promise lots of learnings, real responsibility, and an inside look at how a startup scales at a critical inflection point for the business.

This role is full-time for the summer (10 weeks minimum) and remote (our team is remote-first). Internship start and end date are flexible based on your school schedule.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or masters level marketing, media, journalism, communications, or related program
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to influence with storytelling
  • Hustle. You thrive in an evolving, fast-paced, ambiguous work environment
  • Significant writing or blogging experience
  • Strong desire to learn and collaborate with others
  • Baseline familiarity with marketing tools amp; frameworks

We’ll be totally wowed if you have one or more of these skills
  • Experience with SEO best practices and tools (e.g., SEMrsh, Ahrefs)
  • Experience with marketing analytics tools amp; translating the data from them into meaningful insights (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Experience with Google Adwords or other digital marketing tools
  • Experience in the grief and/or end of life space, e.g. hospice volunteer
  • Ability to fold the fitted bed sheet

Benefits

What we offer
  • The opportunity to immediately improve a fundamental human experience of losing a loved one and supporting a friend in grief
  • A diverse, high-functioning, and growing team that is driven by a mission to redefine what empathetic technology can mean and excited to mentor you
  • As much ownership over your work as you can handle with lots of room for growth
  • Work from wherever you'd like and know the rest of the team is too - we are a remote-first company; preference for 4+ working hours overlap with central time
  • A remote-first team that knows how to have fun virtually - coffee chats, virtual social events, and more. We have way more fun than you’d think for a startup focused on death :)
