Production Supervisor Summary:
This is a hands-on position that will provide strong leadership, guidance and direction to all assembly employees within our plant. Strong interpersonal and technical skills are needed. This person will directly supervise, train, and coach production leads and employees and work closely with the plant manager in implementing policies, practices, and standard work procedures.
Production Supervisor Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures
- Ensure product is in compliance within print specifications and customer standards
- Ensure fulfillment goals are met with coordination of the Plant Manager / VP of Operations in accordance to Company guidelines and standards
- Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries
- Build a high performance work team, minimize turnover and maximize labor efficiencies. Supervise 5-10 (low to peak) production staff and provide technical direction
- Ensure a high level of staff productivity by supervising production staff and communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
- Collaboratively with the Plant Manager or VP of Operations and HR Manager, working to maintain appropriate staffing levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
- Maintain visibility and presence within the plant, interacting with staff throughout the shifts and being available and responsive to staff needs
- Influence and recommend selection of equipment and tools to enhance safety and productivity. Ensure current equipment is properly maintained through TPM methodologies
- Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; working with Plant Manager/VP of Operations and HR Manager to identify solutions and recommend action
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops
- Assist in maintaining / strengthening great culture / team environment
Production Supervisor Education and/or Experience:
- Associates Degree in Production or Operations Management a plus
- 2+ years Management/Supervision experience in a production environment required
Production Supervisor Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Fast paced mfg. environment, with many moving elements
- Environment includes but not limited to powered lift equipment, conveyors, high temp ovens, welders, presses, saws and other shop floor equipment
- Ability to operate industrial equipment, including physical bending, lifting (60 lbs.) and turning
- Ability to withstand long period of time on shop floor; tolerance of elevated temperatures, dust and loud noise levels
