Job Description

This Supervisor for Facilities works directly with the Project Manager, The United States Government, and the various trades Supervisors and Technicians. The Superintendent for Facilities establishes and maintains a professional working relationship with the Government, Government counterparts, subcontractors, and facility tenants. The Supervisor for Facilities is responsible for daily operations and production of his/her assigned trade shops and manages any subcontracted scope as well as non-recurring work. The Supervisor for Facilities also assists with administrative duties associated with his/her assigned field operations, providing technical direction for various Trades Supervisors, Technicians and their functional areas aboard military installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all assigned (facility) trade shops' daily operations.
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review staff responsible for facility maintenance and repairs.
  • Establish schedules and methods for efficient facility maintenance while maintaining costs.
  • Identify resource needs and reviews needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
  • Participates in developing goals and objectives and policies and procedures; makes recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures; participates in the implementation of approved policies and procedures; monitors work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Monitors expenditures; prepares cost estimates; submits justifications for equipment. Monitors and controls supplies and equipment; orders supplies and tools as necessary.
  • Train or coordinate training in facility maintenance and safety methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Works with the Safety Supervisor to develop and organize facility preventative maintenance and safety inspection programs.
  • Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and developments in facility maintenance; incorporates new developments as appropriate into programs.
  • Coordinates with contractors in providing contract services.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent amounts of technical training and/or experience.
  • Certifications in one or more facilities trades are STRONGLY preferred
  • Experience aboard NAS Patuxent River is STRONGLY preferred
  • 5+ years experience in a leadership position supporting facility work in an industrial or commercial environment on a DoD facilities maintenance and repair contract.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Carrying objects/boxes/print-outs short distances.
  • Extensive work with a personal computer.
  • May require lifting and moving as much as 50 pounds with assistance as needed.
