Job Description

This position supports the Construction Accounting Group in managing the day-to-day activities of the job cost accounting function. The analyst will interact with various business units within the firm to provide oversight and support for assigned capital projects and month end processes.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work with Construction Accounting group to oversee proper full cycle job-cost accounting for all capital projects.
  • Perform month-end procedures, including accruals, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations
  • Review Trial Balance/Balance Sheet activity and capitalizable costs
  • Help plan and coordinate job set-up and budget approval for CapEx and Tenant Improvements
  • Set-up, maintain and monitor capex job budgets and contracts for all projects
  • Work with Property and Construction Management to review job statuses, accruals, schedules
  • Review and approve capex invoices to ensure proper coding and approvals
  • Assemble and submit Capital Reserve loan draws to lenders
  • Calculate, review and initiate payment of development/construction management fees
  • Identify completed jobs for potential close-out and transfer out of WIP and place the asset in service
  • Maintain the integrity of processes and procedures, including resolving and responding to issues and discrepancies related to job and contract set-ups, invoice payments, tenant reimbursements, funding, etc.
  • Provide assistance and support to users of job cost accounting
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Manager and Director of Construction Accounting
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Initiate training sessions for job cost accounting and software
  • Respond quickly to new projects, working remotely and after hours when necessary
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Real estate and/or construction accounting experience
TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting and general construction processes and procedures
  • Experience with Yardi, Payscan, and Nexus or related accounting and AP software
