The Law Office of Kenneth J. Freed, a premier litigation law firm specializing in commercial debt collection, is looking for an associate attorney for our Sherman Oaks, California, office.

Primary responsibilities include representing clients in litigation proceedings related to commercial debt collection, developing and implementing litigation strategy, and negotiating settlements.

This is a full-time position; salary is commensurate with experience ($100,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Draft and prepare pleadings, motions and other related litigation documents.
• Conduct research and collect evidence appropriate to litigation cases.
• Manage discoveries in complex litigation settings.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Argue motions independently.
• Conduct interviews and gather material useful for debt collection litigation cases.
• Coordinate, collaborate and support other litigation attorneys.
• Maintain client databases.
• Organize filing of litigation documents and processes.
• Ensure compliance of all local, state and federal laws relating to debt collection litigation matters.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice law in the state of California.
• Minimum of three years of commercial/civil litigation experience.
• Working knowledge of California state court litigation filings and service procedures.
• Working knowledge of civil procedures and legal terminology.
• Proficiency in WordPerfect, Word, Excel, Legal Solutions, Essential Forms a plus.
• Knowledge of bankruptcy law preferred.
• Must reside within commuting distance of Sherman Oaks.
• Must be reliable, accurate and detail-oriented.
