Throuh a growing portfolio on Integration, Transition, and Sustainability Planning (http://www.r4d.org/health/health-financing/transitions/) R4D supports change agents in government and provider organizations to prepare for and thrive through donor transitions of priority programs. These continual shifts in the health financing landscape create important opportunities and challenges that low- and middle-income countries must navigate as they pursue universal health coverage.
R4D’s Collaborative Learning practice builds and facilitates communities of policymakers and practitioners who tackle common challenges by exchanging knowledge and co-developing practical solutions to achieve sustainable progress in health. R4D uses an innovative approach to bring change agents together to systematically share and adapt knowledge and produce new ideas that enable them to successfully translate evidence into decision-making and tackle practical, yet complex issues and achieve their goals.
Opportunity:R4D seeks a Program Director to provide technical leadership in immunization financing and delivery and oversee network management and facilitation in support of the mission and strategic objectives of the Immunisation Network for Middle Income Countries, the next phase of the Learning Network for Countries in Transition (LNCT). LNCT is a growing network of practitioners and policymakers from countries that are transitioning or have transitioned from Gavi support. The next phase of the network will focus on former Gavi-eligible countries. This position is contingent upon successful award of funding.
The Program Director will lead overall network strategy, technical program design, implementation of network management and facilitation, and administrative operations. She/he will oversee the LNCT project management team of four staff, three collaborating organizations, and several consultants. She/he will contribute technical expertise to design and facilitate activities to support LNCT member countries to address health system and immunization program challenges that arise during and after Gavi transition.
The Program Director will also serve as a technical resource and strategic advisor to other R4D projects focused on immunization financing and delivery. He/she will be responsible for new program creation and will contribute to further developing R4D’s health (with a focus on immunization) and collaborative learning practices.
The location of the position is flexible. R4D welcomes applicants from all countries.Responsibilities:
  • Provide thought leadership and technical expertise on immunization financing and delivery with a focus on equity, innovation and sustainability, leading R4D’s immunization-focused program creation efforts and serving as technical advisor to R4D projects with an immunization focus
  • Provide overall leadership and direction to the network’s project team and consortium, defining project goals and ensuring delivery of high quality outcomes
  • Oversee planning and implementation of network activities, including work planning and management, design of learning agendas and facilitation methods, and prioritization of activities to ensure quality results
