About the Role:
This role is the first designer hired to Quizlet’s new Brand Studio, which owns all brand and creative work within the Marketing Team. The Brand Studio provides the articulation and the guardrails for how and where the Quizlet brand appears across digital, social and offline platforms. From large global ad campaigns for Back to School, to the details of an email layout to teachers, the Brand Studio provides the strategy and direction for all of Quizlet.
This role reports into the Senior Director of Brand Studio, where you’ll be their strategic partner and invaluable #2, weighing in on brand and creative decisions across the entire company. Your day will be packed with providing both strategic input and creative output. In a typical day, you might be asked to provide your design POV for the Quizlet brand to the Product Marketing Team; next, you’ll meet with stakeholders asking for your help concepting a fresh look and feel for our global teacher conference including logo creation, landing pages, and Google Slide template decks; finally, you may be asked to create unique illustrations from concept-to-execution for marketing collateral to reach medical school students in the UK. At each step, you are an owner, building a brand that high school and college students see as essential to their own success.In this role, you will:
  • You are not simply one designer among many-- it’s up to you: your opinion and aesthetic matter, and your fingerprints will be seen throughout Quizlet’s marketing materials
  • You’re a collaborative creative, but you’ve got backbone and you’re not afraid to push back to represent your opinion
  • You bring a strong perspective, built by keeping close tabs on branding trends across media and social, especially among the EdTech competition
  • You create designs that fellow designers save to their Pinterest boards for inspiration
  • You’re comfortable making tough calls, juggling a to-do list on an hourly basis, meeting deadlines, and saying no when necessary (with a smile)
  • You’re comfortable breaking down complex narratives into simple, compelling ideas
  • You’ll design conceptual brand expressions that communicate brand intention and value
  • You’ll be creating for Instagram and TikTok, so you probably know about those
What you bring to the table:
  • 5+ years of design experience for a recognizable brand ideally targeted to Gen Z
  • Portfolio featuring campaign designs, including original brand illustrations for a B2C audience, within stated brand guidelines
  • Expert level user of Figma
  • Experience across the full palette of design expression: traditional, digital, social, experiential, and ideas that drive earned media
  • Track record of operating independently and without much oversight
  • Project management and prioritization experience across multiple stakeholders with competing timelines
  • Project management software experience; Jira preferred, but not required
  • Communication and organizational skills
  • BA in graphic design or a related field
Bonus points if you have:
  • MFA in graphic design or a related field
  • Copywriting experience, light short copy
  • Basic video editing skills
  • Motion and gif
