Job Description
An exciting new opportunity to come into Vivino and build upon this role. As the first person in this role, you’ll be a huge asset to the Legal and Finance teams. Vivino is currently building out the sales tax for the U.S and we’re in need of an expert to create the processes and tools for merchant sales tax. Being in the alcohol/beverage space, we have very strict tax laws to abide by, as well as our merchants.
Tax Compliance amp; Research and Process Improvement
The Tax and Compliance Manager will have a vital role in supporting the finance and legal teams to ensure Vivino is secure in global tax and compliance. Working closely with the Global Corporate Controller, the Head of Legal, the Sr. Director of Finance and accounting teams across the world, the Tax, and Compliance Manager will be responsible for all aspects of tax and compliance for Vivino and its 12+ international subsidiaries. This includes managing local statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, facilitating accurate preparation of state and federal tax forms, research to ensure all guidance is met, identifying process improvements, creating and managing compliance policies, improving efficiencies, and supporting the business's rapid growth.
The main part of the job will be for you to:
- Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of company tax returns and the accurate, timely filing of all tax forms.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the legal team, and create strategies to capitalize on changes to legislation.
- Manage sales tax collection and remittance in the U.S. using Avalara and assist with VAT regulation and reporting in the E.U. and APAC.
- Ensure the financial statements, Pamp;L forecast, and cash flow forecast are accurate for all regulatory and tax line items.
- Find and implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures.
- Plan for and develop a global calendar and coordinate timing and inputs with 3rd party tax and compliance teams around the world.
- Contribute to enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and tax planning.
Vendor Partnerships and Accounting
We hope to see that you have broad accounting knowledge as well as an aptitude for building relationships.
- Participate in the year-end audit.
- Workaround transfer pricing to control the income tax per country and subsidiary.
- Make sure the financial statements are correct for tax audits.
- Manage relationships with 3rd party tax and compliance partners globally.
- Partner with various internal Vivino teams, primarily the Legal department.
Furthermore, we hope to see that you have and can demonstrate:
- Extensive corporate tax knowledge, preferably with international experience.
- Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures for corporations.
- Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements, experience in e-commerce and/or alcohol-related taxation a plus.
- Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.
- 5+ years of experience in a tax manager or public accountant role.
- A desire to create a strong foundation in compliance for the company
