Firstleaf/Penrose Hill is looking for a Jr. Data Scientist to report directly to our Principal Research and Machine Learning. In this multi-faceted role you will provide support for all Data Science needs at Firstleaf including internal and external facing products. You will also contribute to critical data analytics and the creation of algorithms and models to empower data-driven decision making.
A few examples will illustrate some of your challenges
- Work with FOSS/GC/MS wine chemistry data to create descriptive Machine Learning models and identify novel compounds and assist in maintaining the wine chemistry dataset
- Creation of model performance and status dashboards both internal and external to the Research and Machine Learning Department including Statistical Modeling/Process Control
- Research and computational experimental design to identify key products and optimizations
- Contribute to external visibility for the Research and Machine Learning Department both internally to Firstleaf and externally to customers (Blogs, Press Releases, Technical Documentation)
Requirements
Jupyter, Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib, SciPy
Supervised and unsupervised regression and classification models
Data cleaning, distribution analyses, and visualization
Statistics
Python and SQL
Revision control (Git and Github)
Scientific approach to problem solving with good documentation practices
Ability to answer questions using data science and communicate key findings to stakeholders; proficiency in technical communication
Product oriented data science processes
Experience with Mass Spectroscopy and Gas Chromatography operations and data analysis
