Firstleaf/Penrose Hill is looking for an Assistant Winemaker to report directly to our Director, Winemaking. In this multi-faceted role you will collaborate with entire winemaking team to ensure the PRH wines are of the highest quality and in line with our member preferences. You'll also track, produce and ensure all PRH wines are in compliance with TTB guidelines, PRH analysis requirements and PRH QA standards

A few examples will illustrate some of your challenges

  • Ensure all movements are accurately tracked, up to date and in compliance with TTB regulations
  • Collaborate with outside bottling and storage partners to ensure the TTB guidelines are followed
  • Manage and coordinate all wine samples and tasting as it relates to sourcing and purchasing
  • Ensure all sourced wines are prepared, shipped and received within PRH requested specifications and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with Creative department to ensure all sourced and purchased wines are within brand stylistic guidelines
  • Ensure all wines purchased and received are within specification and accordance with PRH QA/QC standards

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in a medium-large sized winery
  • Bachelor’s degree in Oenology and/or relevant experience
  • Thorough knowledge of international wines, regions and varietals
  • International winemaking or harvest experience
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft and Google suite as well as Vintrace
