Summary:

The NPD Technician will support the NPD Team with New Packaging Development projects. He/she will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that new product amp; packaging are correctly documented and delivered on-time, in a cost efficient way to meet company quality standards.

The NPD Technician will also support the team with packaging specifications management and maintenance, as well as Packaging Development and testing procedures (SOPs).

The NPD Technician will support the Chandon and Newton Vineyard teams driving forward their packaging and NPD processes and activities and thus participating in the global efforts of both wineries to become wine industry leaders as it relates to design, production, quality and cost control.

Requirements

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Packaging Development / NPD support

  • Help ensure that all new projects follow the NPD established process
  • Work with Production, Maintenance and Quality to ensure that all dry goods have a high level of quality performance on the line, and are fit for purpose
  • Maintain database for specifications and ensure accuracy of the technical information contained.
  • Supports the set-up, and update as necessary, procedures related to new developments including testing protocols for materials (quantities and test requirements by material, timelines, and communication regarding trials and outcomes of testing) with agreed upon input from internal stakeholders.
  • Support Master Data with the set-up of new part numbers, bills of material, new SKU requests, and logistics information
  • Assist with leading new projects during project meetings, write minutes, and follow-up action plans and timelines.
  • Facilitate requests that require involvement from the Warehouse Management Team and liaise with the warehouse on the status of Dry Good Requests and Internal Consumption Orders
  • Label compliance (US and export) Initiate the label compliance process with the label updates requests to the in-house designer and follow up until final approval (TTB certificate for the US, Market approval for the export markets) is approved.


Packaging Quality and Project Buying

  • Work with vendors to ensure high quality and timeliness of delivery of new dry goods.
  • Issue PO’s for purchases related to NPD Development tasks: new tooling, testing fees, 3rd party trials, etc.
  • Help coordinate dry goods Co packing activities all related to NPD- between the dry good suppliers, the subcontracting facility and the internal stakeholders (Production planning, Warehouse, Production), from components order to finished dry goods receipt at the winery.
  • Review and confirm validity of invoices before Accounts Payable processes. Investigate invoices / POs discrepancies and issues internally and with the suppliers until resolution.


Professional experience amp; know how:

  • Previous experience in a technical position in a manufacturing environment is an advantage.
  • Exposure to or experience in Packaging or packaging equipment design, control or validation of packaging components is a plus
  • Good knowledge of company best practices is appreciated.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks and work with cross-functional teams and external contacts
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a harmonious manner with ALL business and management.
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus (MM Module preferred).
  • Ability to adapt to different functions and activities.
