Job Description
If you’re passionate about esports and video games, you’re going to wish you had us back in high school. We’re the largest competitive gaming organization serving high schools and educational institutions in North America, focused on making esports available to every student as a legitimate sport in schools throughout the U.S. We achieve this by making it easy for faculty to offer students the chance to engage in healthy esports competition, surrounded by peers while supervised by teachers. Through organized esports competitions, students are learning to align their commitment to gaming with their success in academics and potential future careers.
We’re on the verge of transforming youth athletics for generations to come. The High School Esports League is all about competition, community, and opportunities for students. We’re looking for someone with a passion for video game culture, social media, and growing an online community. The ideal candidate for this job can foster the growth of a discord community through engagement, events, and activities. This means being able to carry out conversations across multiple video game franchises, have a deep understanding of current video game and meme culture, and be able to organize group activities online.. The ideal candidate can also create short form video and static content that will engage our audience and allow us to grow our community.
Reports to the Commissioner of the High School Esports League.
Role Responsibilities:
- Be a fun person that isn’t afraid to speak their mind
- Manage discord growth and reporting
- Engage and spark conversations with our community
- Manage community events
- Create and implement new ideas for community growth
- Manage giveaways and prizing being sent to our community
- Assists with livestreams and content creation
- Strong attention to detail and project management skills
- Maintain voice and aesthetic of our community
Requirements
- 1-3 years of content production, social media management, or community management experience
- Experience with Adobe Suite or other relevant software
- An understanding of the esports space
- A desire to learn and grow your skills
- Either a college degree in video production, marketing, journalism, literature, or relevant working experience.
- You’re located in Kansas City or willing to move
