Job Description

Are you passionate about using communications as a tool to grow business and bring people together about their joint passions? Do you want to be part of a growth journey and make your unique mark on Vivino’s communication strategy and plans for the US, Canada, and Brazil? Do you want to be a trusted advisor to local and regional executives about communication and media issues? Then we urge you to continue reading.

Global Communications at Vivino operates across all markets and ensures the corporate narrative, internally and externally, and translates and executes this across channels, in various events, and in direct interaction with consumers and stakeholders. Much of Vivino’s communications tasks are managed by various boutique agencies that are all dedicated to communicating Vivino’s passion and ambitions. Because of strong growth and an increased need for Global Communications’ offerings, Vivino is looking to expand the team with a dedicated Director of Communications to cover the Americas markets.

Besides managing several external agency headcounts, supporting executives across the Americas, and building communication strategies and plans, you look into an optimal future set-up, where the objective is to build a small dedicated in-house team.

Strategy, plans, execution, and primary media touchpoint for the US stakeholders

As Director of Communications, you head the Americas region, and in close alignment and collaboration with your colleagues in Global Communications. As the primary media touchpoint for stakeholders in the US, you dress them up, ensure media training, and that all communications, big and small, display Vivino’s brand and integrity. You work across the entire communications value chain, from developing media strategies and value propositions to penning articles and managing media contacts. Much of your time is spent on ensuring communications via your external partners. Your other tasks vary between writing and drafting your own stories to follow up on individual incidents. Some of your primary responsibilities are to:

  • Develop a media strategy and plan that promotes and positions Vivino as a company and employer brand in the Americas across channels.
  • Develop and manage annual communications plan (road map for communications) across activities and channels and align this with the global strategy for the Americas division
  • Develop communication launch plans for when introducing new markets.
  • Align, plan with agencies and ensure agencies are trained, followed-up, and supported.
  • Monitor and ensure media coverage and ensure alignment with external agencies for the Americas.
  • Serve as an advisor to local and regional and global executives, located in the US, Canada, and Brazil about internal and external communications activities, e. g. analyst relations, speaking engagements, events, town halls, and trade shows.
  • Travel to your stakeholders in local markets, approx. 30 days yearly.

An experienced communications executive with passion and an entrepreneurial mindset

We expect you to hold a background in e.g., communications or journalism with several years’ experience from working with or for international companies, where you have acquired regional or corporate experience and understanding of complex business issues. You hold excellent business and creative writing skills and above-average digital and social media skills, which enable you to identify the right channels and the right stories. You balance your hands-on tasks with a strategic overview and the development of tactical plans. You are of course fluent in English (written and spoken).

You present yourself as an engaged and dedicated communications executive, with a passion for creating and communicating narratives that motivate and inspire internal and external stakeholders. You also understand it is not always enough to communicate the right words, but that it also requires changes in behaviors and mindsets. In your team, you contribute with structure and plans, and you never lose sight of the overall goals. Towards your stakeholders, you support with clarity, transparency, and advise as needed.
