About the Position:

We are looking to add a Mechanical Project Engineer to our Denver, Colorado office. The Mechanical Project Engineer oversees mechanical projects and assumes design responsibility for the mechanical and plumbing design and production of multiple projects, and performs mechanical engineering tasks, including overall project QA/QC tasks, as required. Additionally, performs scope of work and budget estimates for proposals. May mentor and provide direction to less-senior level Engineering Department members.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses independent judgment to formulate and develop advanced mechanical engineering concepts for a given project or program function.
  • Performs work involving the application of complex or novel aspects of mechanical and plumbing engineering for the assigned functional area such as HVAC systems, plumbing design, and kitchen exhaust systems.
  • Conceptualizes the initial mechanical and plumbing design approach for major phases of large facility-type projects or has overall responsibility for the mechanical engineering work on a project of defined scope.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates mechanical engineering work.
  • Oversees the design and ongoing progress of a project, including project coordination with city, state, and county officials and other outside agencies.
  • Resolves a variety of complex problems; e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Reviews plans and prepares or reviews technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Participates in the coordination of BIM/VDC.
  • Coordinates technical and administrative activities for a project with other disciplines and departments within Galloway.
  • Takes an active role in new business development; markets Galloway’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Possesses Engineering Intern certification and has the ability to take the Professional Engineering exam within six months of hire prefferfed.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 plus years of experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in private commercial development projects highly preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Energy Modeling preferred
  • Proficiency in Autodesk programs.
  • Understands and possesses a working knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and approval processes as well as site-specific research with respect to these issues.
  • Is experienced in mechanical design of commercial developments.
  • Ability to review, analyze and resolve mechanical and construction field issues.
  • Is familiar with LEED and energy efficient design.
  • Is experienced in concurrently managing multiple large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrates strong skills in managing schedules and budgets.
  • Demonstrates technical writing skills needed for civil reports and letters.
  • Understands client goals and uses effective communication and leadership skills to manage project sched
