We are looking for an innovative, talented, and experienced Lead Software Development Engineer in Test to be the founding member of our quality assurance team. Our Lead Software Development Engineer in Test will establish SamCart’s automated testing practice. Leveraging extensive experience in automation and testing technologies, this role will select and implement the tools and establish the processes that will deliver a high level of confidence in the SamCart application ecosystem. Working in tandem with the engineering team, this role will ensure our software meets rigorous quality and security standards while providing a compelling experience for our users and their customers. The Lead SDET will also collaborate with engineering leadership to grow the quality assurance team and evangelize best practices through influence and effective leadership skills.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Select and implement testing automation platform and tools.
- Contribute automated tests validating the SamCart front ends, back ends, APIs, and services.
- Collaborate with engineers to define and implement testing in parallel with the software development process.
- Develop working knowledge of the entire SamCart application stack, including tests at all levels: unit, integration, and end-to-end.
- Configure automated tests to execute reliably and efficiently in CI/CD environments.
- Mentor and coach team members, fostering alignment in strategy and values.
- Evangelize best practices, leading by example toward the adoption of best practices in code health, testing, testability, and maintainability; champion clean code and the concept of the test pyramid.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of professional experience developing test automation suites
- Expert knowledge of web application testing automation tools such as Selenium, Postman, and CypressJS
- High proficiency with continuous integration systems such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, and CodePipeline
- Significant proficiency with Git and Docker
- Fluency with scripting languages such as PHP, JavaScript, Python, and Ruby
- Experience testing SaaS applications running in AWS
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teammates
