Job Title: Ramp;D Hardware Engineering Manager

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Spectranetix, a small fast-growing company that develops and provides advanced electronic systems for the U.S. Department of Defense, is looking for a Ramp;D Hardware Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team. As a member of the Pacific Defense group of companies, our growth is accelerating.

Spectranetix designs and builds advanced, military standards-based, modular open systems architecture (MOSA) systems. These systems conform to the Army's C4ISR Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS) and the Air Force's Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) Standard. These CMOSS/SOSA systems are used for multi-mission electronic warfare, tactical communications, signals intelligence, cyber-EW, high speed computing or simultaneous combinations of these capabilities.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking to hire a Ramp;D Hardware Engineering Manager who wants to get involved with a small, fast paced, and dynamic company. This individual will be responsible for helping lead a multi-disciplinary hardware group while contributing, as a team member, on a program level. You will be expected to develop module and pc board level requirements, specifications, design and development of cutting edge wide-bandwidth RF technology to 18 GHz with extensions to 26.5 GHz and higher, while interfacing with Systems, Software, Digital, Mechanical, and Manufacturing teams to ensure producible, cost-effective designs, on-time and within budget.

Requirements

  • Self-starter, with experience working with cross-functional groups throughout the entire hardware life cycle, including customers + suppliers, as well as hardware, software, integration, test, digital, and RF engineers, to ensure that final products meet the requirements/objectives.
  • Appropriate level of experience with FPGA/embedded systems and board level design with a strong working knowledge of RF architecture
  • Experience with CAD/CAE tools for schematic capture and PCB layout; familiarity with OrCAD and Allegro flow is a plus.
  • Experience with requirements analysis, decomposition, and flow down of uW, UHF, VHF, HF systems, primarily from the Digital IF into FPGA Digital Filtering and SDR’s.
  • Experience with electrical design, electronics manufacturing processes, and qualification activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead work on design efforts by coordinating, monitoring, and mentoring staff.
  • Facilitating multiple integrated product teams responsible for delivering an RF-oriented system, subsystem, products, and services, while maintaining communications with customers/clients
  • Prepare detailed system and board level block diagrams and identify potential issues, primarily downstream from RF front-end; Digital IF, Digital Filtering, SDR’s, PNT, mixed signal analog, high speed digital.
  • Develop detailed requirements document prior to starting design.
  • Work with system integrator to develop solutions that meet system requirements and result in a high-quality product.
  • Coordinate closely with Program + Project Managers to ensure that HW design program objectives meet schedule + cost requirements.
  • Call for and lead design review process (in-house/internal + external/suppliers), document results, and execute changes/implementation.
  • Test and verify design performance meets required specifications while performing architectural and product trade analyses.
  • Produce all required design documentation to ensure manufacturability and ongoing technical support.

Preferred Requirements

  • Current/active security clearance is a plus.
  • Relevant experience in the aerospace/defense industry
  • Experience with quick turn developments
  • Experience with Data Object Oriented Requirements (DOORS) traceability tool
