Job Description

We’re the largest competitive gaming organization serving high school and education facilities in North America focused on making esports available to every student as a legitimate varsity level sport in high schools throughout the U.S. We achieve this by working with faculty to easily offer students the chance to engage in healthy esports competition, surrounded by peers while supervised by teachers. Through organized esports competitions, students are learning to align their commitment to gaming with their success in academics and potential future careers.

We’re on the verge of transforming youth athletics for generations to come. High School Esports League is a technology company at its core, building a platform to service youth competitive esports from young kids to college students. We’re looking for an experienced event manager who can help identify strategic events to sponsor, speak at, or attend to get in front of our target audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our scholastic communities for example High School Esports League or Middle School Esports League to create tournament schedules, game offerings, and formats based on their country’s academic school year calendar.
  • Create reports to display data from the different tournaments you run.
  • Coordinate with internal teams such as marketing or support to make sure that tournaments are created and run effectively.
  • Continuously operate and administrate these events
  • Coordinate with related internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and information across the company.
  • Scout out which new games are the most opportune to adopt
  • Be mindful of the underage audiences we are dealing with
  • Collaborate with management to complete necessary projects; work independently on prior delegated tasks.
  • Ensure an organized, and clean workspace.

Requirements

  • You have hands-on experience running and/or participating in esports, sports, or similar (card games, tabletop, etc) events
  • You have expert level knowledge of at least one major esport, or a game currently supported by HSEL
  • You are extremely detail-oriented
  • Work out of our Kansas City, MO corporate office.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Computer literate: proficient using Google Work Suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: excellent customer service skills.

Bonus Points

  1. You have intimate familiarity with different competitive formats, structures, and rules
  2. Your game expertise covers 3+ genres of esports, and you’re a long time (4+ years) viewer of esports of any kind
  3. You have worked in the educational space before
  4. You have set up, ran, or maintained a community server for Minecraft, CS:GO, or any other game that had over 20 simultaneous connections
  5. You have experience with using MySQL, Mode or Retool.
  6. You have experience using the organization tool Asana.
  7. Experience with Google Work programs, and Slack.
  8. Previous office experience and understanding of office procedures and processes are a major plus.
