Job Description

Nano Precision Medical is an emerging biopharmaceutical company located in Emeryville, CA. We develop very small, sub-dermal drug implants utilizing our proprietary NanoPortal TM technology platform, which enables delivery of a broad range of medicines to treat chronic diseases for durations of six months or longer. Our products, designed to address poor adherence, will significantly improve patient's lives and provide assurance to the physicians who treat them. Come join us!

Opportunity

The research and development team is searching for an interested intern to work on projects related to nanotube synthesis and characterization. These projects will help obtain knowledge that is useful for scaling-up nanotube membrane production and optimize controlled drug release. Mentored by engineers and scientists in our Ramp;D team, our ideal intern will contribute to solving technical problems and have the self-sufficiency to plan and carry out tasks, contributing to our company as a whole.

The work will be performed primarily at Stanley Hall in the Biomolecular Nanotechnology Center, UC Berkeley.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Solid foundation of undergraduate-level chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
  • Hands-on lab experience.
  • Proficient at data analysis and data management.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative and fast paced environment.
  • Adaptable and reliable, with the ability to work at least 10 hours per week for 4 months.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.


Preferred skills and demonstrable experience:

  • Preferred degree areas: Material Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Applied Physics or other related fields.
  • Ramp;D experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience applying scientific and engineering background to solve non-conventional technical problems.
  • Knowledge of electrochemistry and experience working with/optimizing electrochemical experimental setups.
  • Experience with optical and/or electron microscopy.
  • Experience programming with Python or Mathematica.
  • Cleanroom experience is a plus.


This is a paid, hourly position. Schedule and hours are based on a consensus between you and your supervisor, a minimum of 10 hours per week is required with a minimum of 4 months.
