Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities:

Assist in the design, evaluation, and implementation of business operations programs. Manage supervisors of the company’s IT and Administrative departments and collaborate with the company’s Accounting and Human Resource departments. Work regularly with executive management team to coordinate labor allocation, manage legal and contract matters, and oversee special projects related to operations. Support programs for promoting business culture, developing leadership, and incorporating best practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversight responsibilities In addition to direct oversight of the Company’s department heads of human resources and information technology, this position will perform the following:
    • Administrative
      • Oversee offices and daily resource needs.
      • Manage administrative personnel.
    • Human Resources:
      • Support the human resource department to do the following:
        • Oversee benefits administration and vendor review.
        • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program and standard operating procedures.
        • Develop growth plans for individual employees and coordinate training needs, particularly for high performers.
        • Develop and implement an improved employee performance management system.
      • Assist with team building and company morale.
    • IT:
      • Streamline intradepartmental IT communication and systems.
      • Evaluate IT needs within each department, focusing on efficiency, effectiveness, and implementation success.
      • Update and monitor yearly IT budget.
  • Special projects responsibilities
    • Identify and implement a CRM.
    • Liaison between the FL and CA office and corporate to assist and support their efforts.
    • Serve as liaison between the corporate office and the company’s satellite offices, including enhancing coordination between offices.
    • Establish yearly departmental goals and measure results.
      • Field staff develop and rollout a compensation/bonus plan that emphasizes the importance of accountability within the field.
      • Project Management Staff review draft plan that has been developed, assist in finalizing and rollout to staff. This plan will also emphasize the importance of accountability within the Project Management team.
    • Develop and document internal control procedures, including training and monitoring.
    • Oversee the company’s transition to Procore manage consultants as needed, develop training plan and rollout to staff, manage process and milestone schedule for rollout/implementation. Negotiate and manage agreement with software company on company’s behalf. (This process has started, but will be a primary task in the first 3-6 months of employment)
  • Legal and compliance The company has various needs throughout the year in areas of legal and compliance. This position will own this process for the company, including:
    • Review and scrutinize contracts prepared for client jobs.
    • Address and resolve lawsuit and liability claims for various client projects.
    • Oversee insurance management and review.
  • Production management At any point in time, the company may have 5-20 jobs in various stages of estimation, preconstruction, performance, and post-job review. This position will work with senior management and project managers to:
    • Optimize labor resources across these functions to both service existing clients as well as support future jobs.
    • Troubleshoot resource allocation and project assignment conflicts.
    • Assist in managing and keeping our software up to date with resource allocation for the Field and PM teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of operations experience in the construction industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, and/or business, required.
  • Experience in personnel supervision, team development, contract review, and information technology required.
  • Demonstrates ownership mentality, entrepreneurial mindset, critical thinking, original ideas, risk management discipline, and proactive work style.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve individual and corporate goals.
