ThePrincipalProduct Strategistis a passionate, well-rounded strategist that is responsible for developing and stewarding the strategic vision forproductswithminimal oversight. TheProduct Strategisthas been practicing research and design for 7+ years and is able to synthesize both user and business insights to create actionable solutions that further the client’s business.TheProductStrategistcollaborateswiththeProductOwners,UX Designers, and Technologists to ensure thatthe focusacross multiple productsremains on user and business needs.Responsibilities
  • Works with the Experience Strategy Director to help shape and guide the overall strategic approach, by incorporating user/ business perspective to meet objectives.
  • Accountable for the development of the experience vision for the product, application, or service it delivers, based on the research.
  • Work closely with clients in a consultative and advisory capacity to help facilitate challenging decision-making processes.
  • Owns and communicates the strategic vision and anticipates potential pivots of the engagement for the team and the client throughout delivery.
  • Develop applicable solutions such as: business justification, organizational readiness models, go-to-market strategies, etc., when appropriate.
  • Recommends and conducts various analyses to further inform a strategic POV, such as: competitive landscape and parallel industry analysis, market sizing, SWOT assessments, heuristic reviews, bench marking, etc.
  • Synthesizes primary and secondary user research (qualitative and quantitative data) from user, business and competitive/parallel industries to generate ideas for business opportunities, value propositions, and product/service solutions that are tied to user/target needs, desires, and motivations
  • Evaluate existing client data, such as operational and transactional data, sales and performance projections, and existing market research, to form POVS and recommendations.
  • Leads teams developing an empathetic understanding of a product or service’s users using qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 7+ years professional experience with qualitative user/market research activities, within the Agile methodology, including but not limited to: contextual inquiry and ethnographic techniques, participatory design, heuristic evaluation, usability testing, persona creation, and user journey mapping. Experience with quantitative research methods and data analysis.
  • Business acumen and experience with in-house business strategy group or professional service experience a plus
  • Proven ability to work within a fast-paced, collaborative, consultative and sometimes ambiguous pursuit and delivery process, to uncover insights and opportunities that inform clients’ business and product decisions, as well as the design of products, services, and experiences
  • Strong consulting experience required.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to influence and persuade peers, team, leadership and clients
  • Problem solver (not just good at pointing them out) and negotiator
  • Ability to (infrequently) travel for research activities and client meetings, as needed
Education
  • Bachelor and/or master’s degree in a Relevant Field of Study (e.g. Business Strategy, Human-Centered Design, Market Research, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Ethnography, Graphic Design, Engineering, etc.)
