CIC is looking for a highly capable, self-directed individual to manage a team that will be responsible for day-to-day operations of our shared wet lab space in Philadelphia. This will be a great opportunity for someone with at least 5 years of hands-on experience, including 3 years of managerial experience, who enjoys working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
CIC Philadelphia sits at the heart of the life sciences community in Philadelphia. Our shared wet lab facility plays an integral role in supporting early state life sciences companies. Since opening, we’ve supported companies who have raised over 1.66 billion and have been granted over 67 patents. CIC is now looking to expand its lab facilities to continue to support this growing community. We seek a dynamic professional to lead this next phase of our growth, and to be an advocate and leader for the life sciences and entrepreneurial community we support.
ABOUT CIC LABS, PHILADELPHIACIC Labs offers world-class shared lab and office facilities in our 137,000 SF innovation center at 3675 Market Street. Our turn-key product is built to serve startups and serial entrepreneurs, with the goal of accelerating the development of new science and technology through the services we provide and the community we cultivate. This model enables start ups to drastically drop their founding costs by hundreds of thousands of dollars through the sharing of critical equipment and extensive lab resources. The clients we serve have big impact. Since we launched in November 2018, clients have raised over $1.66 billion in venture capital, created over 240 jobs, and have been awarded 67 patents. In 2020 alone, our companies attracted 39% of the life sciences investment that came to the city of Philadelphia.
In response to the demand for shared lab space in Philadelphia, we recently announced a $10 million investment to double the size of our lab. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WORKReporting to the Site Director, you will be responsible for leading the operations of our shared wet labs.Potential operational amp; technical responsibilities will include:• Grounding operations decisions in the fundamental and nuanced needs of our lab-based clients, while drawing on one’s own expertise as a scientist.• Using data to monitor use of the lab and guide changes to improve its function and sourcing feedback from our life-science entrepreneur clients.• In partnership with the Site Director, providing operational oversight on safety protocols, client services, IT troubleshooting, vendor management, product procurement and management, budget, and inventory.• Driving operational efficiency in a way that enables us to fine-tune the successful delivery of our services.• Working alongside laboratory partners, vendors, and contractors to ensure successful repair and maintenance of facilities.• Partnering with the Site Director to define, enforce, and maintain safety procedures to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.Potential leadership responsibilities will include:• Cultivating, fostering and maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring culture.• Managing the laboratory team dedicated to flawless client experience and laboratory operations.• Serving
