We are seeking a proven Head of Corporate Development and Capital Markets to accelerate our growth and help take Built to the next level. This leader will have led through hyper-growth in verticalized SaaS and can deliver true value creation across the organization. Built is seeking a demonstrated "Builder" profile to own the strategic vision in helping define Built’s strategy and executing upon it using acquisitions, minority investments via Built Ventures, strategic partnerships, and investor engagement. You will work closely with the Product, Business, and Engineering leads of Built’s different business units to identify areas of need and future growth opportunities within the Built ecosystem.
The Team You’ll Work WithReporting to the Vice President of Finance, this is a high-visibility leadership position within the company. In addition to significant interaction with the CEO, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors, this experienced leader will be responsible for partnering with a broad set of stakeholders by crafting, scoping, and driving Built’s vision as well as operationalizing key initiatives. Accordingly, this leader will be intellectually creative, highly analytical, and eager to work on complex business initiatives with unproven business models in the absence of perfect information. The Corporate Development amp; Capital Markets Leader will be tasked with standing up a sophisticated function that will advance Built’s vision and five-year strategy through acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnerships. The role requires deep collaboration with our Strategy amp; Operations, Finance, People, and Legal teams who will rely on the process, models, and evaluations that you prepare. This leader will need to be prepared to make recommendations to our Leadership team and board. This person will also be involved with other strategic initiatives and support a broader build/partner / buy framework.In this Role, You Will:- Partner with senior executives to identify a develop a proactive corporate development strategy and framework that accelerates Built’s mission
- Establish and maintain relationships with senior executives from startups, technology and real estate companies and VCs to inform product strategy and stay up-to-date with the competitive landscape
- Build positive relationships with strategic targets including understanding their strategy, financials, key decision-makers, organizational structure, technology solutions, roadmaps and go-to-market focus.
- Design and implement proactive investor relations strategy
- Conduct rigorous analysis to provide detailed guidance and insight regarding potential acquisitions
- Lead due diligence and integration efforts for acquisitions, including coordinating cross-functional engineering, product marketing, analytics, sales, and corporate teams during the evaluation process
- Lead preparation for quarterly Board meetings
- Negotiate purchase price and deal terms, build financial models to support valuation and establish key benchmarks for post-close planning
- Play a critical leadership role in future equity or debt capital raises
- Build company’s treasury function
- Develop acquisition playbooks to streamline the process and help Built scale
Qualifications:- Successfully run the corporate development function at a technology or tech-enabled company
- 10+ years of transaction experience at a large corporation, investment bank, private equity, or management consulting firm
- At least 3+ years at fast-growth technology companies
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills and commercial and business judgment, with demonstrated intellectual curiosity and rigor
