A Genealogy Cataloger provides original and copy cataloging to create and maintain accurate and thorough descriptions and access points for materials in all formats in The Genealogy Center and Special Collections.

This is a full-time exempt position.Overview of Essential Functions
  • Provides original descriptive cataloging of all formats of standard and rare or unique materials (principally print and electronic monographs and serials); prepares and submits reports of activities as required.
  • Interprets and applies Library of Congress subject headings and classification, RDA core standards, and The Genealogy Center’s Modified Dewey Decimal schedule for maximal catalog user experience.
  • Assists with the creation of cataloging standards and practices for The Genealogy Center and Special Collections.
  • Serves as a resource for colleagues concerning cataloging and classification issues.
  • Maintains currency on emerging standards, technologies, and processes in the cataloging field.
  • Provides copy cataloging by performing complex editing to improve, enhance, and adapt bibliographic records according to guidelines established for The Genealogy Center and Special Collections.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Library and/or Information Science; AND two years of professional librarian experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid driver's license
  • State of Indiana Public Librarian Certification
Compensation Benefits
  • Compensation is $43,617 per year or higher based on previous work experience.
