Superpedestrian is seeking a Head of New Product Introduction to drive functional excellence to support the development and production of lightweight electric vehicles. The ideal candidate has deep experience in launching and manufacturing complex electromechanical assemblies and demonstrated experience in manufacturing products at scale at overseas contract manufacturers.
Location:Greater Boston Area - 10-20% work in the office in Cambridge
What you’ll do:-Develop an NPI / manufacturing engineering team through motivating, hiring, appraising, coaching, training, and challenging the team members-Own, prioritize, and coordinate manufacturing engineering and NPI work across all projects-Train and lead the team to optimize the execution of builds. Identify improvement opportunities and initiate new processes and methods that will improve safety, product quality, and/or efficiency.-Provide tasks and durations to project/program managers while being responsible for the execution of the NPI / manufacturing engineering team-Determine what resources/capabilities are required for program/project execution and hire/build the team-Uses a strong understanding of engineering first principles to guide the technical execution of the team-Owns the communication of functional level project performance/status
What we're looking for:-Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in NPI with 3+ years of team management-BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent-Demonstrated experience bringing a product from initial concept to volume manufacturing multiple times working with overseas Contract Manufacturers-Strong organizational and plannings skills with an aggressive approach to meeting schedule commitments-Experience growing and leading teams in complex work environments, including (but not limited to robotics, automation, diagnostic and test equipment).-Well versed in Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement principles and techniques-Significant experience with electro-mechanical assemblies including motors, actuators, electrical packaging, wire harnesses, etc.-Competency in DFM and part production methods including die casting, injection molding, extruding, machining, and sheet metal-Experience with cost-conscious transportation and mobility systems is a plus-Highly knowledgeable in GDamp;T-Effective communication and interpersonal skills-Experience with PLM systems preferably EPDM and OmnifySuperpedestrian actively encourages applications from people of all backgrounds.
