Job Description

Our mission is to make biology easier to engineer. Ginkgo is constructing, editing, and redesigning the living world in order to answer the globe’s growing challenges in health, energy, food, materials, and more. Our bioengineers make use of an in-house automated foundry for designing and building new organisms.
We are seeking a Systems Administrator with a passion for Identity and Access Management (IAM) to support our significant growth at Ginkgo. You are someone with extensive hands-on IAM experience, who has participated in the design, build, and integration of global identity and access management capabilities within a complex business environment. You have both technical and management expertise with IAM solutions and directory services, and are passionate about having primary focus on leading IAM in this position. This role will require a high level of independence. You will report directly to the IT Engineering Manager and work closely with the Director of Information Technology Security.Responsibilities
  • Design and architect a global Active Directory Infrastructure, including design and implementation of Group Policy, domain consolidation for large scale organizations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Active Directory, GPO, and password/identity management systems
  • Work with stakeholders and other technical teams to collect business and technical requirements and design / deliver enterprise level solutions
  • Review domain level rights and privileges and perform changes to the same as appropriate
  • Collaborate in assessing current and expected Windows infrastructure needs, configuration, maintenance, optimization and documentation of Windows infrastructure
  • Assist with the transition of new and existing applications into Okta SSO and federation services, while enhancing web access management, and directory service environments
  • Perform development and configuration for integrating applications with Okta for SSO and federation services
  • Support technical integration needs (design and development) that facilitate connectivity between SSO, directory, and provisioning tools
  • Follow and apply configuration and security standards and policies within a defined Change Management process
  • Create and update technical documentation of operating procedures as needed
  • Act as a member of the IT Engineering Team in providing timely and efficient support to assigned operations
  • Support a distributed multi-platform based network
  • Collaborate with other leaders in IT, DevOps, Security and cross-functional teams throughout Ginkgo

Desired Experience and Capabilities
  • B.S. in Engineering / Computer Science / Management Information Systems (MIS) degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years in Identity or Systems Management
  • Technical understanding across IT systems (e.g., applications, networks, LDAP, domains, etc.) and application authentication techniques
  • Ability to work with an automation mind set, and proven expertise in the use and creation of PowerShell scripts
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with industry-leading technologies for IAM for Single Sign-On and Multifactor Authentication
  • Knowledge of top-tier technologies such as Active Directory, Centrify, and Okta
  • Familiarity with Windows, Mac, and Linux administration
  • Previous experience with Amazon Web Services, a big plus
