As an intern for the biology team, you’ll work closely with a scientist and share responsibility for conducting novel and routine experiments to advance Alector programs forward. You will help contribute to a variety of programs across our portfolio. You will have an opportunity to apply your existing technical skills, learn new skills in a fast-paced environment where the focus is on solving critical issues in neurodegeneration. Successful interns may have a path towards full-time employment upon completion of training.During the internship, you will:
  • Learn valuable technical and communication skills while gaining experience in a research-focused company
  • Contribute to neuronal assay development to characterize our novel therapeutic leads, with specific tasks tailored for your individual skills and interests
  • Perform routine biochemical and cell based assays
  • Collaborate with research teams on other relevant bioassays
  • Microsoft Excel data processing and optimization
  • Present your work and receive feedback from industry guides
We'd love to hear from you if:
  • You are currently enrolled in an under or post-graduate program in neuroscience, biology, immunology, bioengineering, molecular biology, or a related scientific field
  • You have basic lab experience or familiarity with research lab environment
  • You are familiar with in vitro assays, ELISA, western blot and immunohistochemistry
  • Interest in learning about neuroscience and neurodegenerative disorders
  • You have the ability to work in a self-directed manner with minimal oversight in the lab to meet goals under project timelines
  • You are able to work hard and have a strong desire to learn from industry professionals
  • You take pride in being a self-motivated person, fast learner, excellent teammate, and creative problem solver
