Job Description

Coretek is looking for an Sr. Azure Engineer to oversee the building, deployment, and support of the Azure and Azure DevOps environments of our Managed Services clients. Key focus areas include Azure IaaS, especially PaaS, Azure Active Directory (AAD), VPN, Express Route, virtual networks, storage, backup, policies (network security groups, role-based access control, resource quota management, etc.). You will be responsible for providing customer service to new and existing clients as well as training, mentoring, and managing the Azure team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor key metrics for Kubernetes clusters running in AKS. Provide tier three response for Kubernetes related issues including configuration, pipeline, upgrades, and general management.
  • Support existing Azure DevOps Pipelines for code and application release. This may also include support for Infrastructure as Code pipelines as well
  • Provide architecture support for customer environments identifying improvements for adhering to best practices or where solutions could be implemented to increase reliability, security, and reduce administrative requirements.
  • Assess customer environments and ensure consistency among environment levels (Dev/Stage/QA/Prod) and make corrective recommendations/actions
  • Act as Escalation point to resolve issues that escalate past Level 2 and Level 3 Engineering Support
  • Provide leadership over assigned technical domains
  • Document repeatable tasks/processes and train/transition to Level 2 and Level 3 engineering staff
  • Provide customer guidance on Best Practices related to the performance of their PaaS environments
  • Fulfill customer requests for modifications to their PaaS and Infrastructure as Code environments
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities that optimize customer environments or provide Coretek efficiencies in managing customer environments
  • Work closely with delivery and project managers to ensure contract deliverables are met
  • Provides mentorship and direction to Level 2 and Level 3 Engineer technical team members
  • Serves as technical leader for Azure Backup, Continuity, and Disaster Recovery technologies
  • Review and approve technical plans and solution architecture
  • Primary point-of-contact for technical problem management affecting customers

Requirements

  • BS degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in the Information Technology field
  • 2+ years support PaaS infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code Environments
  • Advanced knowledge in Infrastructure as Code and DevOps methodologies. Terraform OSS and Terraform Cloud knowledge is a plus, however, other tools including Ansible, Puppet, Chef, CloudFormations, ARM templates, etc. are also directly applicable as well.
  • Experience in deployment and or support for Platform as a Service infrastructure deployment including identifying which services can be used to provide value to the application. Additionally, operationally supporting PaaS services, including monitoring, alerting, configuration adjustments, and integration into the existing environment.
  • Experience with ingress services including Azure Front Door, Application Gateway, Web Application Firewalls, Azure Firewall (Standard/Premium), Azure Load Balancers and Network Virtual Appliance firewalls (Palo Alto, Checkpoint, and Fortigate)
  • Strong understanding of networking and Azure virtual networking as it relates to core networking concepts including routing, firewalls/Network security groups, service endpoint, private endpoint, vNet integration, and vNet Peering.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Experience in monitoring PaaS environments with tools like Logic Monitor, Azure Monitor or equivalent tools sets. Includes developing and implementing monitoring best practices.
  • Intermediate or greater level knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and creating automation via IaC tools
  • Intermediate or greater experience supporting Azure Kubernetes Servi
