Job Description

This position takes responsibility for the underwriting and policy administration related to Workers’ Compensation.

Underwriting Responsibilities

  • Analysis of prospect submissions.
  • Review of payroll information, loss runs, and business information of prospect.
  • Submission of the application to the insurance company for possible coverage.
  • Follow up with sales for additional information as requested by carrier underwriting.
  • Communication with sales and client until the policy is approved.

New Policy Procurement Process Responsibilities

  • Provision of posting materials.
  • Provision of binders to include policy information.
  • Communication with internal departments relating to policy securement.
  • Promptly handles various requests from Agents and/or Underwriters through phone and written correspondence.
  • Certificate of insurance writing.
  • Manages account documentation (i.e., proposals, internal risk evaluation documents, etc.).
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Works on special projects as needed or assigned by Risk Management department

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and other database software.
  • Working knowledge of insurance coverages, procedures, and rating.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiar with NCCI and Workers Compensation independent rating bureau websites and rate, rule, and form manuals.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience with Workers Compensation.
  • Policy Service background with emphasis in Workers Compensation.
  • Experience with: Agency Management Systems, various Policy rating and issuance systems; (IMS, Insurity, Policy Decisions a plus).
  • Strong background in Workers Compensation labor code preferred.
  • Working knowledge of WC Rules/Forms, Auto Liability, DMV, and Motor Carrier filings.
