As TZP continues to grow, we are expanding our finance team with a new Assistant Controller opportunity. The ideal candidate is detailed, a self-starter, and eager to join a great team and thriving business. This person will join a highly collaborative team and report to the Controller. Our new offices are in New York City near Columbus Circle, and while we prefer to connect in person there is flexibility for a hybrid work option. This new position has been added to assist in a wide array of processes including quarterly financial reporting, independent audits, tax, compliance, and special projects.

Key responsibilities
- Assist with the review of quarterly and annual fund reporting prepared by third party administrators, including financial statements, waterfalls, and investor capital account statements.
- Perform detailed review of quarterly workpapers, journal entries, waterfalls, and capital roll forwards.
- Oversee capital call and distribution processes, working closely with the third party administrator and Controller.
- Work directly with fund administrator to monitor capital call receipts and any follow-up necessary.
- Assist in managing the books and records of management companies, including accounts payable/receivables, review of monthly employee expense reports
- Work closely with the Controller in the following areas:
- calculation of management fees, deal feels, and monitoring fees (and schedules)
- computing internal rate of returns (IRR) and other fund metrics
- tracking cash and cashflow for all entities
- quarterly portfolio company invoicing
- K-1 reviews, tax filing, and quarterly tax estimates
- analysis and reconciliation of bank statement and general ledger
- Manage the annual 1099 process
- Respond to investor requests and audit confirmations
- Collaborate with the Finance and Operations team, Chief Compliance Officer and Investment teams for ad hoc requests and projects
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA is a plus
- Minimum 3 years of related experience working with private equity or credit firms
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel; proficient with other MS tools; QuickBooks experience preferred
- Must possess the ability to multitask and the willingness to learn new skills as TZP continues to evolve
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), highly organized, and detail oriented
